  • Patent number: 10852814
Abstract: A head-mounted display system is provided, including a head-mounted display, an imaging sensor, and a processor. The processor may convey instructions to the head-mounted display to display a virtual object at a world-locked location in a physical environment. The processor may receive imaging data of the physical environment from the imaging sensor. The processor may determine, based on the imaging data, that a world-space distance between a hand of a user and the world-locked location is below a predetermined distance threshold. The processor may convey instructions to the head-mounted display to display a bounding virtual object that covers at least a portion of the virtual object. The processor may detect, based on the imaging data, a change in the world-space distance. The processor may convey instructions to the head-mounted display to modify a visual appearance of the bounding virtual object based on the change in the world-space distance.

  • Patent number: 9637909
Abstract: A drain snake (4) with a ball (8, 42) on a forward end of a cable (6), the ball having a convex leading surface (36) with a protrusion (10, 44) designed to act as a foot that steps over the end (22, 30) of a pipe (24) in an elbow (26) as the snake is rotated (32). In an embodiment, the protrusion may terminate laterally at 60-150% of a maximum lateral extent (R, 37) of the ball or the protrusion may be limited to the lateral extent of the ball. The protrusion may form a rotationally asymmetric surface arrangement on the ball. The protrusion may have a forward cutting edge (48, 53) and may have a lateral cutting edge (52). The cable (6) may be designed to flex laterally while remaining substantially inelastic axially under manual feed and retraction forces.

  • Patent number: 9051087
Abstract: A sanitary pocket that fits over the tray table on a commercial airplane flight having two parts wherein the first part slips over the tray when it is its horizontal position. When the tray is returned to its upright vertical position, the first pocket is held in place by the securing device that secures the tray in its upright position while a second pocket hangs down from the first pocket that allows the traveler to place his or her items therein, with the peace of mind of knowing that the pocket has not been previously used by an uncountable number of persons and that the pocket is as clean and sanitary as the user dictates. Furthermore, advertising could be displayed on the pocket when in the upright position. Additionally, graphics, including game boards could be used on the first pocket when the tray is in the in-use position allowing for games, as well as providing a clean tablecloth for the user.

  • Publication number: 20110086704
Abstract: A method of providing a music game using a computer system includes the act of retrieving, from a storage medium coupled to the computer system, note information including timing information. The computer system includes a music game controller. The method also includes displaying, on a graphical user interface, a note indicator based on the note information. The method further includes receiving, by the computer system, an input from a music game controller, the input being indicative of a user playing a note in response to the note indicator.

  • Patent number: 6305222
Abstract: A motion sensor (10) includes a micromachined sensing structure and a number of capacitive electrodes (20) disposed about a periphery thereof. The sensing structure includes a ring (14) supported above a substrate (12) so as to have an axis of rotation normal to the substrate (12), and a number of springs (16) attached to a post (18) positioned at the center of the ring (14). Certain diametrically opposed ones of the capacitive electrodes (20) are configured as drive electrodes (20a), and other diametrically opposed ones of the capacitive electrodes (20), positioned 90 degrees relative to the corresponding drive electrodes (20a) are configured as sense electrodes (20b). Signals produced at the opposed sense electrodes (20b) are conditioned and coupled to a common input of an amplifier circuit (64,70).

  • Patent number: 5872313
Abstract: A motion sensor having a micromachine sensing element and electrodes formed on a silicon chip. The sensing element includes a ring supported above a substrate so as to have an axis of rotation normal to the substrate. Surrounding the ring is at least one pair of diametrically-opposed electrode structures. The sensing ring and electrode structures are configured to include interdigitized members whose relative placement to each other enables at least partial cancellation of the effect of differential thermal expansion of the ring and electrodes. As a result, the performance of the motion sensor is, to first order, insensitive to temperature variation. The sensor further includes circuitry for creating and detecting an electrostatic force between the interdigitized members of the sensing ring and electrode structures.

  • Patent number: 5866796
Abstract: A yaw sensor for automotive controls has a microstructure vibrating ring excited by a driving circuit. The driving circuit comprises an amplitude control loop which delivers voltage pulses at the resonant frequency of the ring. A compensation signal is derived from a comparison of a sensed vibration amplitude to a desired vibration amplitude. Failure of vibration is detected by comparing the compensation signal to a threshold which is higher than a normal compensation signal. Alternatively, vibration failure is detected by comparing the sensed vibration to a threshold lower than the desired vibration amplitude. Upon such failure, the yaw output signal is replaced by ground potential.
