  • Patent number: 5517795
Abstract: A furring stud assembly for mounting a new wall, shelving and/or other wall mounted objects, onto an existing wall structure. The assembly features a furring stud having an "M" shaped cross-section defining three longitudinal channels, and a slotted wall standard which is at least partially recessable into the central channel of the furring stud. The furring stud assembly is suitable for attachment directly to an existing wall, using conventional nails or screws. The furring stud and slotted wall standard are easily made from sheet metal by roll forming and/or stamping.

  • Patent number: 4839999
Abstract: A stud assembly, for use in framing a wall unit, that generally includes a stud and a bracket support. The stud includes a pair of unitary elongated channels arranged back-to-back from a common flat web. Each one of the channels is a mirror image of the other channel. The web extends integrally into, and interconnects two generally similarly elongated shoulder portions. Each one of the shoulder portions defines a stepped section for receiving and retaining a bracket support. Each of the stepped sections extends integrally into, and interconnects two generally similar flange retaining sections, for rigidifying the shoulder portion, and for securing the bracket support into frictional engagement with the stud.

  • Patent number: 4588156
Abstract: A bracket support structure adaptable to a wall of a the type that includes a frame formed of a plurality of elongated vertical studs for attaching at least one sheetlike panel. The bracket support comprises a single integral structure that includes a lateral channel for receiving a slotted bar support, an inwardly-projecting closed recess for accommodating the inner end of a wall bracket and a passageway formed between spaced-apart, exteriorly-directed blade members. Clips are attachable to the top and the bottom of support housing, such clips serving as both fire stop plates and as means for applying inwardly-directed pressure on the blades defining the passageway to enhance lateral stability of the bracket when mounted.

  • Patent number: 4581859
Abstract: An improved wall stud for use in framing a wall unit. Two separate sheet-like sections are roll formed with preselected folds and stitched together at a common double strength web. The composite stud includes an open surface channel for accepting a wall standard and bracket support structure as a unit so that installation costs are minimized.

  • Patent number: 4235054
Abstract: The present invention comprises a portable wall structure including a metal cap forming the top of a wall structure, a metal floor track forming the bottom of the wall structure, and a series of channeled load-bearing studs that are secured vertically between the cap member and the floor track member. These vertical studs are composed of steel of about 20 gauge thickness. A vertical steel stud is positioned at each end of the wall structure to provide closed ends of the wall structure. This wall structure forms a separate unit of substantially rectangular configuration which may be prefabricated and separately transported to a building construction site. Some parts, such as top plates, corners, door surrounds, and window surrounds, made of wood, are included in some embodiments of the invention.

  • Patent number: 3999352
Abstract: A prefabricated sheet metal wall module comprises: an upper horizontal cap member of inverted U-shaped cross-sectional configuration with a pair of parallel longitudinal dependent side flanges; a lower horizontal floor track member of U-shaped cross-sectional configuration with a pair of parallel upwardly extending longitudinal side flanges; and a series of parallel upright studs each having a pair of opposite longitudinal side flanges. The upper and lower ends of each stud telescope into the upper and lower horizontal members respectively with the side flanges of the stud in intimate surface contact with the side flanges of the horizontal members thereby providing four rectangular areas of two layers of metal.
