  • Patent number: 5377642
Abstract: A compression release system is provided in an engine having a main exhaust port with an attached muffler. A muffler supporting boss extends from the cylinder of the engine separate from the muffler mounting at the main exhaust port. A compression release port extends through the boss. The muffler has two separate inlet apertures; one for the main exhaust port and one for the compression release port.

  • Patent number: 4972733
Abstract: A shock absorbing hand grip comprises an inner elongated resilient tubular wall member adapted to slidably receive a supporting structure and an outer concentric resilient elongated tubular wall member spaced from the inner tubular wall member. A plurality of flexible spacer members are disposed between the inner and outer tubular wall members having a first end attached to the inner tubular wall member and a second end attached to the outer tubular wall member. The flexible spacer members are disposed between the inner and outer tubular wall members at an angle to the axial plane of said tubular members so as to create a region of bending flexure for the spacer member between the inner and outer tubular walls such that shock forces applied to one tubular wall member will cause a bending flexure of the spacer members whereby such shock forces are substantially completely displaced in a non-radial direction to the other tubular wall member.

  • Patent number: 4821859
Abstract: The invention is directed to a self regulating rotor for a centrifugal clutch. The rotor is designed to reduce the clearance between the rotor and the the drum by being stressed above its elastic limit as speeds above the normal engagement speed whereby any enlargement of the rotor diameter that occurs above the eleastic limit results in a permanent set.

  • Patent number: 4771875
Abstract: The invention is directed to a rotor for a centrifugal clutch of the type where the rotor resides inside a drum and engages the drum above a predetermined speed. The rotor comprises a plurality of randomly oriented similar rotor elements each capable of expanding ourwardly independently of one another to engage the drum. The rotor elements are preferably stamped from sheet metal.
