  • Patent number: 5794818
Abstract: A container (10) includes an upper shell (11) and a lower shell (12) attached thereto by a connection mechanism (39). Corner columns (40,61) are formed between the walls (26,28,30; 46,63,64) of the shells (11,12), respectively. Spaced ribs (42,70) extend inwardly from the walls (26,28,30; 46,63,64), respectively, to assist in supporting an internal container bottle (13). The bottle (13) has a valve assembly (59) which can be exposed through an opening (58) in the front wall (46). A valve access closure mechanism (60), including a door (143), is operable to close the opening (58). A lug (160) and notch (150) arrangement maintains the door (143) open, as desired. The bottom surface (74) of the container (10) is provided with a drainage system (76) having channels (78-81) all sloped toward a drain hole (82) so that any liquid in the container (10) is directed to the drain hole (82). Foot assemblies (14) include hollow, crushable foot members (118) of a predetermined profile.

  • Patent number: 5375741
Abstract: A container (10) for carrying bulk materials includes a body portion (12) having an open top, a cover (11) to close the open top, and a base portion (13) holding the body portion. The base portion (13) has sidewalls (39) which cradle the sidewalls (25) of the body portion (12), which sidewalls (25) are tapered so that the container (10) can be nested within a like container. Material to be discharged from the container may pass through a valve (33) positioned in a recess (32) in a sidewall (25) of the base portion (12). A preferably flexible liner (14) may be received in body portion (12) and includes a peripheral cuff (46) for attachment to the cover (11) and base portion (12). The liner (14) also has a tube (44) which can communicate with the valve (33) for discharge of the material from the liner (14).

  • Patent number: 5373961
Abstract: A bulk shipping and storage container for liquids or dry powders comprising a rigid, round, plastic vessel, molded in one piece, and a lid for the vessel. Preferably, these parts are molded of poly(dicyclopentadiene), using the reaction injection molding (RIM) process. The lateral wall of the vessel is inclined inwardly from top to bottom so as to define an upper truncated conical section and lower truncated conical section coaxial with the upper section. The lateral wall is equipped with means for securing the lid to the top of the vessel. A recess is formed in the lateral wall of the vessel and this recess can be tapped with a threaded drainage hole to receive a threaded drain valve. The vessel's bottom is sloped towards this recess to permit complete draining of the container's contents. The container may be mounted on a pallet member or seated in a tub. Alternatively, it may be molded with an integral pallet formed by the lower portion of its lateral wall.

  • Patent number: 4899526
Abstract: A deck for a rotary lawn mower is disclosed which is designed to be fabricated from a polymeric composition by a blow mold process thereby forming double walls. The cavity between the double walls is filled with a suitable foam for added rigidity and sound absorption. The deck includes a support for an engine which defines an opening in the deck for the output shaft of the engine to extend through to the bottom of the mower, a tunnel for directing the grass clippings having a discharge opening for the clippings, and mounting platforms for the mower wheels and handle are integrally formed therewith in a single forming operation.
