Abstract: An improved electronic display of text in a vertical or horizontal continuously scrolling fashion is provided. A viewer can read the displayed text without the distractions of awkward user interface mechanisms or the start and stop interruptions of page changes. To facilitate differing viewer needs, the viewer can alter the scrolling speed as desired. The display intensity of the text output for display can be varied to assist the viewer's focal point in the text as a further aid to reading the text. The viewer can pause the scrolling text, can jump to another point in the text, can bookmark the scrolling text and can edit the scrolling text.
