  • Patent number: 4211073
Abstract: This invention concerns an improved combustion chamber comprising two concentric sheet metal cases forming a space into which air is admitted. The air passes from the space to the interior of the chamber in primary, secondary, annular, and tertiary air flows. The fuel coming from lateral nozzles forms a flame which is directed at first toward the closed end, then turned back by the secondary air flow. The external case comprises two walls between which a cooling flow circulates. The invention thereby achieves reduction in atmospheric pollution from exhaust gases.

  • Patent number: 4057102
Abstract: The invention relates to a rotary heat exchanger.Springs 18, or compressed air, housed between the steel rim 2 and the cellular ceramic disk 1, exert a compressive prelateral tightness over about one-third of the surface, for the passing of the cool air of admission. The remainder of the disk is passed through by hot exhaust gases. A gas turbine, in particular for a lorry, wherein the disk 1 is subjected to abrupt accelerations and decelerations.

  • Patent number: 4024905
Abstract: A sealing device located between a static surface of a gas turbine and a rotating heat exchanger surface is comprised of a plurality of outwardly opening U-shaped shoes sealingly connected to the static surface by a bellows and a plurality of U-shaped compression members telescopically disposed within the U-shaped shoes and biased outwardly into engagement with the rotating heat exchanger surface by a plurality of springs.

  • Patent number: 3985181
Abstract: A rotary heat exchanger of the type having a ceramic core surrounded and driven by a ring gear is provided with a compressed air or spring arrangement between the periphery of the core and the ring gear to apply a radial compression force to the core at all times during operation of the exchanger to assist in accommodating abrupt accelerations and decelerations in the rotation of the exchanger.
