    Abstract: A method of recovering hydrocarbons from underground formations by employing a modified inverted 5-spot well pattern, which comprises drilling four substantially horizontal wells located along each of the four sides of an inverted 5-spot vertical well pattern, injecting an oil recovery fluid through the central injection well, producing hydrocarbons and other fluids through the vertical corner production wells, ceasing production through the vertical corner wells, and producing hydrocarbons and other fluids through the horizontal wells.

    Abstract: The invention is a method of producing hydrocarbons from a region bounded by two vertical wells and a horizontal well, which comprises injecting a gas through a first vertical well, concurrently performing a cyclic injection, soak and production of gas through a horizontal well, converting the first well to production after the gas injected from the first well reaches the area affected by gas from the horizontal well, and injecting gas through a second vertical well.

  • Application of multiphase generation process in a CO.sub.2 flood for high temperature reservoirs

    Abstract: A high temperature reservoir is preconditioned by injection of cold water until a zone around the injection well reaches a temperature suitable for multiphase generation conditions. A subsequent carbon dioxide injection creates a multiphase slug near the wellbore region. The multiphase slug is propagated through the reservoir by continued injection of CO.sub.2 or water alternating with gaseous CO.sub.2.
