Abstract: Disclosed are a method and various embodiments thereof for receiving a recall signal by determining a recall signaling frequency; receiving a recall signal on the determined recall signaling frequency; capturing a recall message from the recall signal when the recall message is targeted to at least one of a simple product, a product that is an assembly or a component in a product that is an assembly; notifying a user when a recall message is captured; storing a notice identifier included in the recall message in a substantially permanent manner, wherein the notice identifier is associated with a description of a specific recall campaign, said description being stored remotely from the product or itself being a textual description, a numeric description and alphanumeric description or an audible description.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method and various embodiments thereof for providing aftermarket service for a product. The method and its various embodiments are used to provide aftermarket service by receiving a user response by means of a communications channel. The communications channel is configured according to a contact identifier, which is included on a product. The contact identifier is included on a product in association with a product notice receiver that is integrated in the product. Upon receipt of a user response, the user response is serviced.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method and several embodiments for issuing and receiving a product notice message by incorporating a product notice message into at least one of a control data stream and a program data stream carried in digital broadcast data stream. This is accomplished by combining at least one of a control data stream and a program data stream into a time-multiplexed data stream, splintering the multiplexed data stream into a plurality of sub-streams, generating a corresponding plurality of modulated carriers according to each of the sub-streams, combining the plurality of modulated carriers into a composite radio frequency signal and then radiating the composite radio frequency signal. In order to receive the signal, the composite radio frequency signal that includes a plurality of modulated carriers is received and each carrier therein is demodulated into a plurality of corresponding data sub-stream. These are then combined into a time-multiplexed, multi-channel data stream.

Abstract: Means for disabling an automobile by causing an on-board computer to disable the ignition system thereof. A radio receiver provides a signal to the on-board computer through an existing port (e.g. diagnostic port or ignition interface port). The on-board computer disables ignition function through supplanted firmware that recognizes the status of the signal received from the radio receiver. Removal of the radio receiver also disables the ignition system. The entire system is installed during government required inspections (e.g. a smog check).
