Patent number: 8349987Abstract: The disclosure relates to biocompatible components useful for forming compositions for use as medical/surgical synthetic adhesives and sealants. Biocompatible components of the present disclosure may include a polymeric polyol core, which may be treated with a nitroaryl compound to form a nitro ester. The resulting nitro ester groups may be reduced to form amino groups which, in turn, may be treated to form isocyanate groups. The resulting isocyanate may then be reacted with a second component to form adhesive and/or sealant compositions.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2010Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: Covidien LPInventors: Mbiya Kapiamba, Jack Kennedy, Roland Ostapoff

Publication number: 20050122708Abstract: A conventional night light is adapted to support one or more hearing aids on a perforated shelf located above the lamp of the night light. The air warmed by the lamp penetrates the perforations and bathes the hearing aid to increase the temperature of the hearing aid by a few degrees. Additionally, the warmed air may penetrate the hearing aid through the various apertures therein. The combination of warmed hearing aid and warmed air flow therethrough will tend to evaporate any moisture within the hearing aid and reduce the likelihood of deterioration of electrical components due to the presence of moisture and the longevity of the hearing aid will be greatly enhanced. In another embodiment, a lamp disposed in one compartment is energized to warm the surrounding air and cause an upward flow of air through a perforated bottom of a second compartment containing one or more hearing aids.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 5, 2003Publication date: June 9, 2005Inventor: Jack Kennedy
