  • Patent number: 8721070
Abstract: Embodiments may provide multifocal eyeglass lenses and eyewear that may comprise multifocal translating eyeglass lenses. The eyewear may comprise a lens housing, a first temple and a second temple coupled to the lens housing, and a first and a second lens supported by the lens housing. The lens may comprise a first optical zone having an optical power corresponding to a wearer's far distance day time optical power need and a second optical zone having an optical power corresponding to a wearer's far distance night time optical power need. The eyewear may further comprise a movable member coupled to the lens housing, the first temple, or the second temple, wherein the movable member may be configured to move between a first position and a second position, where a position of the lens may be based at least in part on the position of the movable member. The eyewear may further include a mechanism adapted to adjust the position of the movable member.

  • Publication number: 20120147316
Abstract: Embodiments provided herein may comprise eyewear such as spectacle frames, eyeglasses, lens housings, etc. that may move (or otherwise adjust a position) such that the lenses of the eyewear move relative to a wearer's eye. The movement of the frames may be such that one or more optical zones of the lenses are positioned in front of a wearer's eye (or in a more operable viewing position). Embodiments may comprise a movable member that may be utilized to adjust the position of the lens, as well as various mechanisms for adjusting the position of the movable member.

  • Publication number: 20020009338
Abstract: An apparatus and method for altering the temperature of a surface of a body of water is disclosed. In an embodiment for the method of the invention, the method includes positioning a conduit below the surface of the body of water (i.e., underwater) substantially perpendicular to naturally occurring ocean currents, dispensing a substance from the conduit, and upwelling water to the surface. In another embodiment, the method includes positioning an upwelling system underwater, the upwelling system having a plurality of valves controllably releasing an upwelling substance, releasing the upwelling substance from a subset of the plurality of valves to upwell water to the surface. In an embodiment for the apparatus of the present invention, the apparatus includes a conduit, disposed underwater, the conduit releasably containing an upwelling substance and including an input and a plurality of outputs.
