  • Publication number: 20110220887
Abstract: The present invention provides continuous, free-standing metal oxide films and methods for making said films. The methods are able to produce large-area, flexible, thin films having one or more continuous, single-crystalline metal oxide domains. The methods include the steps of forming a surfactant monolayer at the surface of an aqueous solution, wherein the headgroups of the surfactant molecules provide a metal oxide film growth template. When metal ions in the aqueous solution are exposed to the metal oxide film growth template in the presence of hydroxide ions under suitable conditions, a continuous, free-standing metal oxide film can be grown from the film growth template downward into the aqueous solution.

  • Patent number: 7348756
Abstract: An apparatus controls a power converter of an AC motor drive system, the power converter outputting multi-phase AC current to an AC motor. The apparatus comprises: a state selecting unit; and an advanced controller. The state selecting unit selects an operation mode, from among a plurality of operation modes, for the AC motor based on system real-time operating conditions, the plurality of operation modes including a normal mode, a power interruption mode, a fault protection mode, and a power-up/down dynamic mode. The system operating conditions include DC voltage available to the power converter, motor load condition, and motor speed command. The advanced controller controls multi-phase AC current output from the power converter to the motor in accordance with the operation mode selected by the state selecting unit.

  • Publication number: 20060061923
Abstract: A method and apparatus control a power converter (20) of a motor drive system. The power converter (20) is controlled during a first operating mode by applying a current control scheme, which sets power converter commands to control active and reactive current components flowing from the power converter (20) to the motor (10) to achieve desired motor speed; and a fault protection scheme is executed during a second operating mode. The fault protection scheme generates power converter commands to reduce the active current component flowing from the power converter (20) to the motor (10) is substantially zero. The first operating mode will be resumed upon receiving the restart command if the motor speed is above a pre-set shutdown threshold.

  • Publication number: 20060061320
Abstract: A method of controlling a power converter (20) of a motor drive system (10)controls the power converter (20) during a first operating mode by applying a current control scheme, which sets power converter commands to control torque current flowing from the power converter (20) to the motor (30) to achieve desired motor speed; and initiates a second operating mode when power supply to the power converter (20) is interrupted. The second operating mode includes controlling negative torque current between the power converter (20) and the motor (30) so that mechanical energy from the motor (30) charges an element (58) on a power supply side of the power converter (20). The first operating mode is resumed when the input power recovers. Torque current between the power converter (20) and the motor (30) is also controlled to limit a maximum transient DC bus voltage.

  • Patent number: 5154823
Abstract: A filter apparatus and distributor plate therefor of the quick-change type which are easily fabricated from plastic material by injection molding are disclosed. The distributor plates which are flangeless can accommodate one, two, three or more canisters. The canisters which are neckless have two prong-like arcuate member with flanges. The prong-like members extend through the distributor plate and the canisters are secured to the distributor plate by locking knobs which have mating flanges for engaging the flanges on the prong-like members. Opposing ports in the canisters and distributor plate are seal by O-rings which are housed on the flat top surface of the canisters. For filter apparatuses having more than one canister, the distributor is preferably made in two parts, namely a main body part and an insert part which are bonded into a single unitary part by sonic welding.
