    Abstract: The grasping retractor has an arm member and a blade member with a jaw portion at one end and a recurved handle portion at the other end. A clamping bracket is pivotally attached to the blade member, and has a jaw portion located to move into engagement with the jaw portion of the blade member when the clamping bracket is pivoted. A locking mechanism holds the clamping bracket secure, allowing the blade member to function as a retractor without slipping.
