The composition includes from about 0.1 to about 20% by weight of a tanning agent and from 0.1 to 20% by weight of a crosslinked cationic copolymer having a monomer unit which is a methacryloylethyl or acryloylethyl tri(C1-C3 alkyl)ammonium salt. The crosslinked cationic copolymer is a color enhancing agent which improves color intensity and avoids streaking of the developing tan/glow.
