  • Patent number: 11747347
Abstract: The invention disclosed herein is for an in vitro cell-based assay for predicting the conversion from mild cognitive impairment to Alzheimer's disease in a patient who has received a diagnosis of MCI. The method comprises the following steps: a) culturing human hippocampal progenitor cells in a culture medium comprising serum, obtained from said patient, during a period of proliferation of said progenitor cells; b) subsequently culturing said hippocampal progenitor cells in a culture medium comprising serum, obtained from said patient, during a period of differentiation of said progenitor cells; c) determining the level of proliferation of said cultured progenitor cells; d) determining the average cell count of said cultured progenitor cells; and e) monitoring apoptotic cell death after differentiation of the proliferated hippocampal progenitor cells, wherein the outcomes of each of (c) to (e) are applied to a statistical analysis, the result of which is predictive of conversion from MCI to AD in the patient.

  • Publication number: 20050220633
Abstract: Provided is a gasket for a fuel pump unit configured with a second outlet port for accommodating a pressure sensor to monitor the downstream pressure of pumped fuel. The gasket is adapted for placement between a pump cover incorporating the second outlet port and a pump body containing a gear pump. Providing fluid communication between a first outlet port downstream of the gear pump and the second outlet port is a passageway disposed through the pump cover and pump body. To avoid obstructing the passageway, the gasket includes an aperture. To prevent high pressure fuel from being forced through the gasket and leaked from the pump unit, the gasket includes a leakage collection channel having a first leg, a second leg and an intermediate portion surrounding the aperture. The leakage collection channel is adapted to return leaked fuel to a low pressure reservoir between the pump cover and pump body.

  • Patent number: 6668851
Abstract: A plug for plugging a first port and blocking insertion of a second plug into a second port of a fluid system. The plug includes a threaded plug portion and a blocking stem portion extending from the threaded plug portion. The stem portion projects into the second port and blocks insertion or mounting of a second plug and thereby keeps the second port unplugged. In a disclosed embodiment, the plug is mounted into the return port of an oil pump unit of an oil burner to block bypassed flow from returning to the local reservoir of the oil pump unit. This prevents two plugs from being inadvertently mounted that could otherwise block all bypass flow in the pump unit and cause excess pressure build ups and blown seals.

  • Patent number: 6157206
Abstract: Integrated circuits include an impedance control circuit having at least one output terminal coupled to an on-chip reference termination device in order to control output impedance of the reference termination device such that it matches that of an external resistance. The impedance control circuit outputs are also coupled to the on-chip impedance-controlled termination devices which are coupled to each of the external transmission lines to be terminated. In this way, a single reference resistance allows many transmission lines to be properly terminated. The impedance-controlled termination devices are may be implemented as pairs of binary weighted p-channel and n-channel field effect transistors.

  • Patent number: 4985864
Abstract: In a static random access memory formed by an array of rows and columns of memory cells, separate bit lines convey a data bit to or from memory cells of separate columns. Gates controlled by an input row address connect only a single memory cell of each column to the bit lines of the column so that only a single memory cell of the column transmits or receives a data bit on the bit line. Gates controlled by a column address connect the bit lines of only a single column to data input and output circuits. During a write cycle, the memory cell connected to each bit line pair attempts to bias the bit line pair in accordance with the state of its stored data bit, but bit line pairs of non-addressed columns are coupled to a voltage source to prevent a row addressed memory cell of that column from strongly biasing the bit lines. Following the end of a write cycle, a precharge circuit temporarily clamps all bit lines to the voltage source to precharge bit line capacitance.
