  • Patent number: 4624359
Abstract: A drive system utilizing a plurality of flexible drive elements disposed in aligned guideways is provided. Devices such as currency carriers may be attached to the flexible drive elements for movement between currency receiving position, currency presenting position, and currency purge position. A mechanism operated cam assciated with the guideways operatively cooperates with a cam follower mechanism on the carriage to cause currency gripping and aligning devices in the carriage to operate at predetermined points as the flexible drive elements traverse the guideways.

  • Patent number: 4577763
Abstract: A sheet dispenser in which sheets are delivered from cassettes to a collector and held thereon. The collector is mounted on a movable support, and the collector and bills thereon are moved to either left or right delivery areas of the terminal in response to a request entered on an input terminal. Closures normally close the left and right delivery areas; however, these closures are opened to permit the sheets held on the collector to extend out of the dispenser to be grasped by an operator.

  • Patent number: 4362911
Abstract: A "membrane"-type keyboard includes a resilient foam layer having an array of holes therein with the layer being sandwiched between first and second flexible membranes having electrical conductors thereon which are arranged to complete a circuit associated with a hole when the first and second membranes are moved toward each other. Embodiments including dome-shaped areas in the first flexible membranes provide for "tactile feedback" and additional foam layers enhance the operating characteristics of the embodiments. The method generally entails determining the operating parameters of a desired keyboard and simply changing the relative density and/or thicknesses of various layers and flexible membranes in the keyboard to obtain radically variable paremeters, as for example, the location of the "makepoint" of the switch at various positions between the start and end of "key travel.

  • Patent number: 4004089
Abstract: An encrypter for encoding and decoding data, wherein clear text data to be encoded is logically combined with a portion of a non-linear pseudo-random bit sequence signal to provide a partially encoded signal. The bit sequence of the non-linear pseudo-random signal is chosen in accordance with a user selected key. A shuffle register receives the partially encoded signal and interchanges the positions of the bits making up the partially encoded signal in accordance with a user selected key to provide the fully encoded signal. The fully encoded signal may then be recorded, for example, on the magnetic stripe of a credit card.Means are provided for decoding the above described encoded signal using the same portion of the nonlinear pseudo-random bit sequence that was used for encoding.
