  • Patent number: 8973539
Abstract: A two-stroke, uniflow, full expansion internal combustion (IC) engine including a plurality of cylinders, including a cylinder wall and a cylinder head having an exhaust port, an exhaust valve disposed in the exhaust port, a fuel injector and a spark means disposed through the cylinder head, a piston mounted in the cylinder for reciprocal movement between a top dead center (TDC) position and a bottom dead center (BDC) position, and through a compression stroke and a power stroke, and a swirl inlet port passing through the cylinder wall at the bottom of the cylinder, wherein the swirl inlet port is covered and uncovered in response to the reciprocal movement of the piston. The exhaust port is held in an open position for a portion of the compression stroke movement of the piston, to provide a delay in the onset of the compression phase of the cylinder cycle.

  • Patent number: 8893671
Abstract: A cylinder for an internal combustion engine having co-annular dual pistons. The cylinder has a main cylinder having a main cylinder wall and a cylinder head, a first or outer piston having an annular crown, an inner cylinder wall that defines an inner cylinder, and an annular outer sidewall extending from the periphery of the crown, an inner piston having a crown, and an annular inner sidewall extending from the periphery of the crown. A solenoid-actuated pin selectively secures the outer piston with the main cylinder during a portion of each cylinder cycle. The inner piston reciprocates within the inner cylinder during both the air inlet and compression strokes, while the outer piston reciprocates within the main cylinder only during the power stroke and the exhaust stroke, to increase the piston crown surface area exposed to the combustion gases to maximize the power and efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20140326907
Abstract: A solenoid-operated air inlet or combustion exhaust valve, for a rotary exhaust valve assembly or a sliding plate valve. The rotary exhaust valve has a fixed housing with a cylindrical bore in fluid communication with an air inlet port and/or a combustion gas outlet port, and a cylindrical valve body that rotates within the bore of the fixed housing. The valve body has a gas passage transverse to the axis. The sliding plate valve has a fixed housing with a cylindrical bore in fluid communication with a gas inlet passage and a gas outlet passage, and a plate between the gas inlet passage and the gas outlet passage with an aperture, moving between open and closed positions. An electric linear solenoid reciprocates linearly and operates the sliding plate valve or the rotary valve, directly or through a lever to rotate the rotary valve body, between the open and closed positions.

  • Patent number: 5454610
Abstract: A door security device comprising a floor plate and a removably interlocking member, with the floor plate having a slot for receiving a leg projection, extending at a right angle, from the removably interlocking member. The floor plate is fastened securely to the floor, in close proximity, and in the path of swing of an inwardly swinging door, so that the disposed removably interlocking member will block the door from opening at all or past a predetermined point. With a first preferred embodiment having a floor plate formed with a plurality of openings for receiving screws for securely fastening it to the floor, and a removably interlocking member having two leg projections extending at right angles, in the same direction, and parallel to each other, either of which to be engaged with the slot in the floor plate, while the other facilitates handling of the removably interlocking member.
