  • Patent number: 9605142
Abstract: One or more fly ash materials or other optimized mineral fillers having a particle size distribution that may include cinders of selected sizes is mixed to form a filler. The filler is then mixed with an acid scavenger, an antioxidant, a compatibilizer and an impact modifier into a resin to form either a final composition or a masterbatch. A blowing agent may be added to both. Either the masterbatch or the final composition is mixed with a blend of a mineral oil and a styrenic block copolymer. Thereafter the masterbatch if prepared is mixed into or with a base resin to form the final composition. Fractional melt may be used in the masterbatch and in the final composition. The physical properties of the resulting products can be controlled by varying the ingredients. Some masterbatches are combined to produce products that have improved impact strength and/or that have enhanced toughness when compared to products made using naked or virgin resins.

  • Patent number: 9599280
Abstract: A system and apparatus are disclosed including PV modules having a frame allowing quick and easy assembling of the PV modules into a PV array in a sturdy and durable manner. In examples of the present technology, the PV modules may have a grooved frame where the groove is provided at an angle with respect to a planar surface of the modules. Various couplings may engage within the groove to assemble the PV modules into the PV array with a pivot-fit connection. Further examples of the present technology operate with PV modules having frames without grooves, or with PV modules where the frame is omitted altogether.

  • Patent number: 9588940
Abstract: The systems, devices, articles, and methods generally relate to sampling from an available probability distribution. The samples maybe used to create a desirable probability distribution, for instance for use in computing values used in computational techniques including: Importance Sampling and Markov chain Monte Carlo systems. An analog processor may operate as a sample generator, for example by: programming the analog processor with a configuration of the number of programmable parameters for the analog processor, which corresponds to a probability distribution over qubits of the analog processor, evolving the analog processor, and reading out states for the qubits. The states for the qubits in the plurality of qubits correspond to a sample from the probability distribution. Operation of the sampling device may be summarized as including updating a set of samples to include the sample from the probability distribution, and returning the set of samples.

  • Patent number: 9574588
Abstract: A photovoltaic (PV) module framing and coupling system enables the attachment of PV modules to a roof or other mounting surface without requiring the use of separate structural support members which attach directly to and span between multiple PV modules in a formed PV array. The apparatus provides a parallel coupling for securely interlocking the outside surfaces of parallel frame members together in a side to side arrangement to form an array with improved structural load distribution. The coupling may attach to a slot in the frame at substantially any position along the length of the frame thereby enabling the interconnection of adjacent PV modules along both an x and y axis. The apparatus may further provide a rotating portion and locking portion, mounting brackets for direct connection to a mounting surface, grounding teeth, and a twist-lock engagement means for interlocking and aligning PV modules in the array.

  • Patent number: 9548696
Abstract: A solar array with successive rows of photovoltaic modules angled in opposing directions forming peaks and valleys between the rows with the valleys (i.e.: lower sides of the photovoltaic module rows) being mounted close together and the peaks (i.e.: upper sides of the photovoltaic module rows) being mounted far apart to improve system aerodynamics and permit ease of access for installers. Included is a system for connecting the upper sides of the photovoltaic modules to connectors that slide on bars extending between upper and lower mounting bases and for pivot locking the lower sides of the photovoltaic modules to the lower mounting bases.

  • Patent number: 9481768
Abstract: A fly ash material or other filler or combination of the two having a particle size distribution is mixed with a liquid coupling agent in a sealed mixer that is heated to gasify the coupling agent for association with the varied particles of the filler. An acid scavenger, an antioxidant, a compatibilizer and an impact modifier may be mixed with a base resin or target resin to form a master batch or the final composition. Either the master batch or the final composition is mixed with a blend of a mineral oil and a styrenic block copolymer in addition to low melt or fractional melt resins.

  • Publication number: 20160248367
Abstract: Photovoltaic mounting systems having sealant injection system are provided herein. Such sealant injection systems provide improved directional control of sealant flow and improved sealing of roof penetrations during mounting with one or more fasteners. Such systems can include a bracket assembly having a removable sealant injection package. The sealant injection package includes a collapsible sealant injection reservoir and is adapted to provide directionally controlled release of sealant upon collapse. Such a system can further include sealant injection guides that direct flow of sealant during mounting and pads or caps that cover and enclose the injected sealant so as to ensure adequate sealing of any roof penetrations and maintain its integrity over time. Such systems further allow for sealant injection packages to be interchanged or replaced as needed and allow for ready removal or replacement of the bracket after mounting while maintaining the seal of any roof penetrations.
