  • Patent number: 5163359
Abstract: Cooking apparatus comprising a pair of burners offset from a grill so that grease from the cooking food drips into a sump rather than onto the burners. A series of slats above the burners direct and distribute the heated air to the grill, each slat intercepting a different portion of the heated air. A drip ledge between the burners and the grill help to channel the grease to the sump and away from the burners. The walls of the housing of the apparatus have passages for cooling by a flow of external air. A smoker intercepts some of the heated air and circulates it among wood chips, for example, and returns smoke to the housing interior.

  • Patent number: 4878477
Abstract: A barbeque grill has an upwardly open housing and a food support grill positioned adjacent the opening. A gas burner includes a tubular heating element positioned within the housing and an external portion positioned on the outside of the housing. The burner external portion is in communication at one end with an end of the heating element and at its other end with a fuel source and the heating element has a number of holes formed along its length within the housing. The fuel is ignited within the external portion of the burner where it burns in torch-like fashion producing heat and pressure that moves into the heating element causing the heating element to become red hot with excess heat escaping through the holes in the heating element into the housing. A disposable cooking pan has a corrugated bottom with a plurality of openings formed therein and is adapted to be supported on the support grill for cooking food.

  • Patent number: 4762059
Abstract: Grease collector grates 48 and 49 are positioned within the housing 11, beneath the location of the food support grill 19, over the burner 26. The L-shaped grease collector bars 50 of the collector grates 48 and 49 prevent grease from falling downwardly to the burner 26, but the space between the collector bars permit the heat to move freely upwardly between the collector bars.

  • Patent number: 4203392
Abstract: A heat exchanger in which a fluid maintenance tank has a spiral coil for heating the fluid therein. A source of heat is applied to the upper end of the spiral coil and the heat is caused to course through the spiral coil to the other end thereof during which heat is being exchanged to the medium to be heated. The uppermost portion of the tank is thereby heated first. A blower means is connected in operative relationship with the lower end of the spiral tubing to draw the heat and products of combustion through the tubing and to exhaust same. The heat exchanger may be a hot air furnace, a hot water heater or a fluid superheater with a reserve compartment.

  • Patent number: 4034662
Abstract: Cooking apparatus especially suited for outdoor cooking using charcoal, wood and the like for fuel. The container-like body supported on legs may be made from sheet metal and includes a special damper arrangement beneath a corrugated foraminous sheet metal meat support. Charcoal or other fuel is supported in a removable pan inside a large container smaller than the inside area defined by the body and mounted above a sheet metal damper wall in which there are two large damper openings through which air flow is adjusted by means of a manually positioned hinged damper plate. The large container has ventilation holes around the edges. The corrugated formation of the foraminous plate provides slanted surfaces and grease troughs which help control the cooking and the grease disposal. A large, hinged hood may be swung and supported out of the way and the hood has a removable shelf. A special grease guard is part of the body. Special pivoted brackets selectively retain the hood in place.

  • Patent number: 4002113
Abstract: A cooking apparatus capable of effectively cooking food, such as steaks and hamburgers, without a flame flare-up of the greases or fats. The cooking apparatus includes an upwardly open container for supporting flavor producing means, such as chips and spices, with a cooking surface, such as a grill, supported above the container. The flavor supporting container provides heat dissipation means for directing heat to the cooking surface. Housing means is provided for supporting the cooking surface above the container, with the housing including heat producing means, air pressure means and air pressure directing means for supplying a controlled amount of hot air to the container for contact with the flavor producing means and transfer to the cooking surface. A distribution surface constructed of a formanious plate is provided between the cooking surface and the flavor supporting container for effectively distributing the hot air over the cooking surface.
