  • Patent number: 9532185
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives a first MTCH. The apparatus stores MBMS control information for at least a second MTCH. The apparatus subsequently determines to receive the second MTCH. The apparatus then accesses the stored MBMS control information for the second MTCH upon determining to receive the second MTCH. The apparatus receives the second MTCH based on the accessed MBMS control information without acquiring the MBMS control information for the second MTCH after the determination to receive the second MTCH.

  • Patent number: 9161280
Abstract: Techniques are provided for a broadcast client of a wireless communication network. A method may include receiving broadcast content via broadcast delivery on a first resource associated with a first set of carriers. The method may include determining, during unicast idle mode, a second set of carriers comprising neighbor carriers in a current cell. The method may include modifying handoff priorities of the first set of carriers and the second set of carriers based on membership of each carrier in a common set of carriers comprising the first and second sets of carriers and further based on a priority order specified by the wireless communication network. The method may include determining whether to hand over to at least one carrier in one of the first and second sets of carriers based on a handoff decision that takes into account the modified handoff priorities.

  • Patent number: 9137718
Abstract: A method for cell reselection by a wireless communication device is described. The method includes camping on a serving cell in idle mode. A neighbor cell is detected. A serving cell rank is computed for the serving cell. A neighbor cell rank is computed for the neighbor cell based on multimedia broadcast multicast service metrics. Cell reselection is determined based on the serving cell rank and the neighbor cell rank.

  • Patent number: 9131350
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives an MBMS service from a first cell in a first MBSFN area while in an RRC idle mode. The apparatus reselects to a second cell through an intra-frequency cell reselection upon moving into coverage of the second cell. The second cell is a non-MBSFN cell or an MBSFN cell in a second MBSFN area different than the first MBSFN area. The apparatus continues to receive the MBMS service directly from the first cell while receiving paging signals from the second cell.

  • Patent number: 9055136
Abstract: Techniques are provided for reducing delay during streaming transmissions. For example, a method may include receiving a stream of data segments. The method may include establishing a first group of segments based on the data segments, and generating a first table of information. The method may include transmitting the first table and the first group of segments, and establishing a second group of segments based on the data segments, the second group of segments including a partial overlap of data segments included in the first group of segments. The method may include generating a second table of information, and transmitting the second table and a collection of segments that includes data segments from the second group that were not part of the first group.

  • Patent number: 9001737
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives a user service description (USD) message. When a frequency indicated in the USD message is not a current frequency, the apparatus determines that a system information message is received, determines that the frequency indicated in the USD message is included in the system information message, determines that the frequency is a neighboring cell frequency, sets a priority of the frequency to a highest priority, and measures a signal strength of the frequency when the frequency is included in the system information message, performs a cell reselection determination procedure based on the signal strength of the frequency, performs cell reselection to the neighboring cell based on a result of the cell reselection determination procedure, and acquires the multicast service in the neighboring cell on the frequency.

  • Patent number: 8837433
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided for prioritizing the performance of measurements during measurement gaps and the reception of multicast/broadcast content. The apparatus receives a configuration from a serving cell to perform a measurement during a measurement gap of a unicast service while in a connected mode. In addition, the apparatus determines whether to refrain from leaving the serving cell on a first frequency and performing the measurement on a second frequency of a neighboring cell in order to receive multicast/broadcast content associated with a multicast/broadcast service during the measurement gap.

  • Publication number: 20140241180
Abstract: A method for inter-frequency cell reselection by a wireless communication device is described. The wireless communication device camps on a serving cell. An evolved multimedia broadcast multicast service (eMBMS) service provided by a neighbor cell is discovered. Inter-frequency parameters of the neighbor cell are measured. It is determined whether to perform an inter-frequency cell reselection based on one or more inter-frequency cell reselection factors. An inter-frequency cell reselection to the neighbor cell is performed.

  • Patent number: 8724537
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided that include enhancing decoding of multicast broadcast control communications, which can be of a relatively large size. A configuration message related to a broadcast channel structure can be received in multiple instances and/or segmented data units. A receiver can combine multiple instances and/or accumulate segmented data units to obtain and/or decode a control channel over which the configuration message is communicated. Communicating segmented data units of the configuration message can allow a broadcast station to utilize a lower data rate, more reliable modulation and coding scheme to encode the configuration message.

  • Publication number: 20130254611
Abstract: This application relates to systems and methods for recovering data in multimedia file segments. A communication device may receive a multimedia file segment that includes damaged data. The communication device may replace the damaged data with dummy data to reconstruct the multimedia file segment. The communication device may then play the reconstructed multimedia file segment. Thus, by replacing the damaged data with dummy data, the communication device may play a multimedia file segment even when part of the segment may be damaged.
