Patent number: 4968274Abstract: The watercraft has a catamaran hull system with parallel rear pontoons pivoted for side to side oscillation from the trailing end of front pontoons. A rigid frame interconnects the front portions, and back support post is pivoted to both the frame and to linkage interconnecting the rear pontoons, so that the operator can lean to either side to pivot the back support post and turn the boat in the direction he is leaning. Bicycle pedals rotatably carried on the front of the operator support frame, drive a propeller to propel the boat, and the foot pedaling action may be augmented by lines secured to the pedals so the operator can pull each pedal manually on return.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1989Date of Patent: November 6, 1990Inventor: Jack T. Patent number: 4735048Abstract: The hydraulic tool of this invention includes a pressure chamber into which a fluid is pumped. A pump chamber has an inlet port and outlet port at opposite ends thereof and a pump plunger extends into the chamber with an annular space around it. An annular shoulder is provided on either the chamber or the plunger and a seal ring or sleeve fits slidably on the other component to seal against the shoulder. A spring biases the seal ring against the shoulder, and when the pump is extended to force fluid out the outlet port, the pressure in the chamber augments the spring force. Then, when the rod is retracted to create a void, fluid in the reservoir forces the seal ring or sleeve away from the seat surface to enter the inlet port.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 1986Date of Patent: April 5, 1988Assignee: The Gregory CompanyInventor: Jack T. Patent number: 4653308Abstract: The disclosure is of a mechanical riveter wherein rivet-gripping jaws are pulled through a slideway by means of a pull rod. Each of a pair of links is pivoted between one of a pair of squeezable handles and a yoke carried on the pull rod. Means are provided to adjust the position of the yoke along the rod, thus fixing the length of the stroke and the mechanical advantage of the tool.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1985Date of Patent: March 31, 1987Assignee: The Gregory CompanyInventor: Jack T. Patent number: 4520648Abstract: A mechanical riveter comprising a slideway with rivet-gripping jaw assembly slidable in said slideway to be pulled by a rod. A pivot and guide pin at the other end of the slideway pivotally carries a pair of squeezable handles and a pair of links, each pivoted between a handle and the end of the rod, so that when the handles are squeezed, the links pull the rod down and away from the nosepiece, guided through a bore through the pivot guide pin.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1984Date of Patent: June 4, 1985Assignee: Gregory Tool Systems, Inc.Inventor: Jack T. Patent number: 4498293Abstract: A force-delivering tool such as a log splitter wherein a pusher member carried on a cylinder is forced against a blade carried on a frame to which the piston is secured. The cylinder is driven relative to the piston by means of a reciprocating plunger carrying a cup on the end that forces fluid past a one-way valve ahead of the piston. Oil is pressurized by both the bottom of the cup and its annular end but, when resistance is encountered to build up pressure, a relief valve evacuates the annular chamber so that all the force is concentrated in the area at the bottom of the cup. The entire actuating valve may be backed away to relieve pressure as desired or at the completion of a desired stroke.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1983Date of Patent: February 12, 1985Assignee: Gregory Tool Systems, Inc.Inventor: Jack T. Gregory

Patent number: 4489471Abstract: A hydraulic pulling tool comprising a piston slidable within a cylinder and having a co-axial bore therein. Lateral passages open from the bore through the piston to the leading face thereof and a screw piston is pushed in the bore by threading a screw pusher so that the hydraulic fluid in the bore is forced out into the cylinder to retract the piston. For a blind riveter, a pair of jaws is driven by a pusher piston also carried at the leading end of the bore so that the build up of pressure causes the jaws to grip a blind rivet firmly.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1983Date of Patent: December 25, 1984Assignee: Gregory Tool Systems, Inc.Inventor: Jack T. Gregory

Patent number: 4342216Abstract: A hydraulic force-delivering hand tool, such as a cable crimper, comprising a body with a large axial bore at one end forming a cylinder. A piston is slidable in the cylinder and has a nodular mass at the outer end to drive against a member to be crimped. A plunger pumps a quantity of fluid past a transfer one-way check valve and into the cylinder, to drive the piston forward a small increment each stroke. When the piston passes through its full predetermined stroke to effect a complete crimp, interengaging means on the transfer check valve and on the piston, lift the transfer check valve from its seat to prevent further travel and to relieve fluid back to the transfer chamber. A button may then be pressed to unseat a relief check valve, to relieve the cylinder to the reservoir.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 1980Date of Patent: August 3, 1982Inventor: Jack T. Gregory

Patent number: 4329121Abstract: A hand operated tool comprising a cylinder with a drive piston therein operative to drive the cylinder to deliver a substantial lineal force. The piston has a large, tubular piston rod which functions also as a reservoir for the hydraulic fluid. A plurality of oil passages bored through the drive piston have small pump pistons reciprocable therein to receive on each return stroke a quantity of fluid from the self-contained reservoir to be delivered on the pump stroke to the other side of the drive piston. A wobble plate is mounted on the drive piston to drive the small pump pistons by tilting against them. A motor carried on the trailing end of the tubular piston rod rotates a shaft to drive a wheel carrying tapered pressure rollers around the wobble disc, tilting it against the pump pistons in circumferential sequence.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1980Date of Patent: May 11, 1982Inventor: Jack T. Gregory

Patent number: 4263801Abstract: A hydraulic tool comprising a cylinder which is open at one end with a piston extending partially therein, but having a substantial portion extending outside. A lateral bore through the extending portion accommodates intake and exhaust check valves, but the bore is sealed off between them, forming an inlet chamber. Surrounding the inlet and exhaust ports and sealed at its opposite ends to the piston and cylinder, respectively, is a flexible, extendable sleeve forming an annular reservoir. A transfer duct extends from the inlet chamber to a pressure chamber formed between two seals around the piston, and a longitudinal bore opens into the inlet chamber from the extending end of the piston to slidably accommodate a manually-operated pump plunger.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1979Date of Patent: April 28, 1981Inventor: Jack T. Gregory

Patent number: 4248077Abstract: In a hydraulic riveter wherein an extension on a piston carries a jaw holder containing an annular array of gripping segments with conical outer surfaces slidable on a conical inner surface of the holder, a second piston is slidable in a bore and is operative to force the segments along the wedging surface to grip a rivet. A fluid passageway brings the bore into communication with the cylinder, so that as pressure builds up in the cylinder to increase pulling force, the second piston is forced against the gripping segments with increasing force to build up clamping force on the rivet in direct relation to the pulling force of the tool.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 1979Date of Patent: February 3, 1981Inventor: Jack T. Gregory
