  • Patent number: 9481111
Abstract: A method of making a vacuum fused-particle mold involves bringing the outer surface of a flexible bladder into contact with a master part; drawing a first vacuum between the flexible bladder and the master part to cause the flexible bladder to conform to its shape; placing a quantity of particles inside the compartment in sufficient quantity and distribution to cover at least a portion of the inner surface of the flexible bladder that conforms to the shape of the master part; sealing the mold compartment with a rear bladder; drawing a second vacuum on the mold compartment to hold the quantity of particles in place; removing the first vacuum to release the master part; and maintaining the second vacuum on the compartment to retain the shape of the flexible bladder. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

  • Patent number: 6116672
Abstract: An adapter ring useable in a door or map pocket having an orientation within a vehicle is disclosed. The adapter ring is fittable within the door pocket to support a configured bin of standard design within the door pocket irrespective of the orientation of the door pocket. The adapter ring includes a peripheral flange having an outer edge adapted for cooperation with the door pocket to support the adapter ring in the door pocket. The peripheral flange also has an inner edge adapted for cooperation with at least a portion of the configured bin to support the bin within the door pocket. A vehicle door assembly utilizing the adapter ring for optimizing the storage capacity of a door pocket is also disclosed. Also disclosed are various inserts fittable within a door pocket for optimizing the storage capacity of the door pocket.

  • Patent number: 5639329
Abstract: A process for forming decorative panels for automobile interiors uses a compression press, a grooved stationary platen die and a movable platen die with a metal blade edging mounted thereon. The blade edging has a peripheral shape matching the outer wall of the groove in the stationary platen die section, and the contour of the movable platen die matches the contour of the stationary die and a formed decorative panel having a downturned edge of the same peripheral shape as the groove and blade. This downturned edge becomes embedded in a sheet of mounting panel stock upon closing of the compression press.
