Patent number: 5853101Abstract: The present invention is directed to a blister pack opener which includes a structure designed to receive a soft pack of individually segregated unit dosages of medication. The opener or soft pack puncturing mechanism has a base segment and a top segment hingedly connected to one another. The base segment has an orifice located thereon which is of sufficient size to receive a unit dosage section of a soft pack commonly referred to as a "blister" and the top segment has a protrusion adapted to nest within the orifice of the bottom segment. The protrusion of the top segment has sufficient height so as to puncture a dosage unit section of a soft pack of medication. When a dosage unit or "blister" is placed within the orifice of the bottom segment and the top segment is hingedly pushed downwardly, the protrusion on the top segment will puncture the foil or flat element of the blister pack. The top has a cylinder for receiving piston, and a catch for permitting limited movement of the piston within the cylinder. The piston having an inlet valve for allowing air into the cylinder. The cylinder has an outlet valve which forces air into the housing. The dispenser has a tri-purpose nozzle. The nozzle has a dispensing orifice at one end and is biased in an open up position. The piston is suspended from the bottom surface of the nozzle. As such, the nozzle acts as the pump for slidably moving the piston within the cylinder. The top has a fluid outlet port opposite the position of the cylinder. The nozzle is rotatably connected to the top. Patent number: 5749496Abstract: The present invention is a semi-flexible captive cap closure which includes a non-removable cap that rotates between a closed and open position and has opposing squeeze points that must be biased inwardly in order to open the cap. The preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a container which has a base and a neck for retaining the cap. The neck has at least one inclined recess track which has at least one impression which is adequately sized to correspond to a protrusion located on the cap. When the cap is in a closed position a user grasps the cap at the opposing squeeze points and applies inward pressure in order to displace the protrusion from the impression and to allow rotation to an open position. A non-flexible trap chamber is connected to the opening and extends outwardly therefrom. The inlet orifice is adapted to receive a dip tube which is attached thereto and extends close to or at the bottom of the container. The trap chamber has an upper end with a dispensing orifice. This is small enough to prevent dripping of liquid therefrom by gravity when the bottle is inverted but is large enough to dispense liquid therefrom when the bottle itself is squeezed. The snap lid which is utilized in the present invention container is substantially set into the top of the container and this lid has one component of either an extended lift member or an indented lift guide. The ring has the other component of either the extended lift member or the indented lift guide. When the ring is rotated, the snap lid cannot be opened. The snap lid can only be opened when the ring is simultaneously squeezed and rotated. In an alternative embodiment, the two component lift system is utilized wherein both components extend outwardly rather than one extending outwardly and one indented. The engagement of the cover and draw tracks allow only for the respective lateral movement of the cover across the drawer. The lateral movement of the cover allowed by the tracks is restricted in one direction by the cover end tabs, and in the other direction by the drawer locking tab.The drawer locking tab has a step that overlaps the cover surface. To open the slide box the cover tab must first be deformed backward, removing the step from above the cover, and then downward so that the whole locking tab is beneath the cover.
