  • Patent number: 6554524
Abstract: A connector for towing cable or conduit in which one head includes a socket for the mating reception and separation of an aligned matching projection presented by the other head with the opposed aligned surfaces of socket and matching projection in sliding fit, a spring-loaded ball assembly presented by one head such that only a minor portion of the spring-loaded ball protrudes beyond its opposed aligned surface to register within a matching groove formation in the opposed aligned surface of the other head, and a set screw regulating the spring-loading of the ball so that displacement of the ball from the groove formation and separation occurs only when the tensile load applied to the mating heads exceeds the load imposed upon the ball; and with one head including a swivel shaft providing a connection to the other head and supported for rotation therewithin upon a combination of dual thrust bearings at both ends including one or more of a three (3) piece needle bearing, a flanged Permaglide™ bearing or

  • Patent number: 5573226
Abstract: An apparatus for guiding elongated items, such as cables, wires, hoses, and the like, onto or from spools. The apparatus includes two frame members that are pivotally and hand-releasably connected together to form an enclosed frame through which the elongated items are guided. A first pivotal and hand releasable connection is made between a first leg of the first frame member and a first leg of the second frame member. A second pivotal and hand-releasable connection is made between second legs of the frame members to provide a releasable opening of the enclosed frame. The releasable opening provides access to the enclosed frame for installation of the elongated item without requiring access to one of the ends of the elongated item to thread it through the enclosed frame. One of the frame members also includes provision for attachment to a mount, by which the enclosed frame is held in any of a plurality of selectable positions with respect to the mount.

  • Patent number: 5122007
Abstract: An improved cable pulling eye including breakaway protection. The cable pulling eye includes a main body having a female end and a second body with a male end which may be inserted together. The bodies are held together by a breakaway pin passing through the male shaft and the walls of the second body. The pin includes spaced annular grooves as weak points where breakage is limited and will occur.

  • Patent number: 4411409
Abstract: Apparatus and a method is disclosed for inserting a plurality of PVC liner tubes in a concrete duct. The liner tubes subsequently receive fibre optic cables which can be inserted into each PVC duct at any time after they are installed. The invention provides a liner to encase and separate each fibre optic cable from one another inside the concrete duct. Apparatus is also disclosed for pulling power cable through such ductwork.

  • Patent number: 4337923
Abstract: A device for attachment to fibre optic cable for pulling such cable through trunking systems or the like, includes a tubular body for receiving an end of the cable and adapted for crimping around the cable. A head portion of the device, in alignment with the tubular portion, includes apparatus for locking a central strength member of the cable into the device. In a preferred embodiment the locking apparatus consists of a plurality of set screws spaced throughout the length of the head portion and serving to crimp and secure the strength member to the pulling device.

  • Patent number: 4225161
Abstract: An adapter pad is provided for use with an inventive split flange to couple a standard S.A.E. pressure flange coupling to a pressure port requiring a step size flange. The adapter pad has a central flow port therein of a diameter corresponding to the flange coupling inner diameter and has an upper face adapted to interface with the terminal face of the flange coupling head and a lower face has an annular gasket groove therein for connection to a hydraulic component. The upper face of the adapter pad may also be provided with a central circular upraised portion having an inner threaded bore for mating with a standard size fitting, which may have any of the standard angular bends. The inventive split flange is provided with a double circular recess, which forms two shoulders for securing either the standard flange coupling or the flange coupling in combination with the adapter pad.

  • Patent number: 4070894
Abstract: A device for circumferentially crimping a tubular cable puller onto a free end of a cable, said crimping device comprising a base adapted for securement to the body of a fluid actuator; a holder for said tubular puller and adapted for securement to the piston rod of said actuator whereby linear movement of the actuator piston relative to the body thereof effects relative movement between the base and the holder; a wire rope secured at each of its ends to said base and extending into and looping within the confines of said holder; said holder having a semi-circular seat to accommodate the outside diameter of said tubular puller and a groove in said seat to receive a portion of the loop of the wire rope; the seat of said holder having a diameter equal to the outside diameter of the tubular puller; said wire rope looping 360.degree. around said tubular puller and circumferentially crimping the same in response to said base being drawn away from said holder by operation of said actuator.
