  • Patent number: 11971782
Abstract: Systems and methods for a controller including controller memory and logic are presented herein. The logic is configured to control access to a persistent storage media and, in response to one or more commands, the logic determines an intermediate parity value based on a first parity calculation, and using the intermediate parity value determines a final parity value based on the intermediate parity value and a second parity calculation. Determining the intermediate parity value includes sending a uni-directional command to read an old data value from an address indicated in the uni-directional command, perform an exclusive-or operation on the old data value and a new data value indicated in the uni-directional command to determine the intermediate parity value and store, in the persistent storage media, the intermediate parity value at a location associated to an index indicated in the uni-directional command.

  • Patent number: 9304055
Abstract: The system utilizes electroscan equipment including a voltage source and current meter with a cable having one end grounded and one end having an electric probe thereon sized to fit within an underground pipe. The probe is able to complete an electric circuit back to ground when the probe is adjacent a defect through which electric currents can pass, thus producing varying electric current. A cable reel is provided with portions of the cable supported thereon and with a cable distance sensor coupled to the reel along with the current meter and voltage source in the form of a battery. The current meter and distance sensor transmit wireless signals to an on-site processor, such as a smartphone, for on-site data evaluation. Such unconditioned data is also transmitted to a remote location for conditioning of the data and retransmission of the conditioned data back to the on-site processor.

  • Patent number: 9143740
Abstract: A camera based sewer evaluation vehicle has an electro-scan pipe defect detection system integrated therein. A cable and winch of the camera based system are utilized to support either a camera or an electro-scan probe. A signal transmitted through the cable is passed along for processing of signals received through the cable for final output and analysis, such as on a common computer. To facilitate electro-scan probe based pipe defect detection, a ground rod is utilized. The system can include a funnel plug downstream of the electro-scan probe for interconnection to a haul line and to assist in maintaining a liquid filled status in the pipe adjacent the electro-scan probe. A downstream bypass funnel plug or a blockade of some form can operate within and past a downstream manhole adjacent the pipe to keep the pipe filled with liquid.

  • Publication number: 20060015290
Abstract: A spectrometry method and apparatus for filtering step-like pulses output by a preamplifier to measure the energy or other desired characteristics of events occurring in a detector attached to the preamplifier. The spectrometer provides a set of filters that are capable of measuring the desired characteristic with different accuracy or resolution, detects the pulses in the preamplifier signal, and measures the time between consecutive pairs of detected pulses. For each detected pulse, the spectrometer selects a filter from the set of available filters, based on the measured time intervals between the pulse and its immediately preceding and succeeding detected pulses, applies it to the pulse, and indexes the output of the filtering operation with one or more indices identifying the selected filter.

  • Publication number: 20040130332
Abstract: A sliding plug for working on and testing pipes is presented. The sliding plug includes a center portion and a gasket disposed about the central portion. When towed through the pipe, the sliding plug maintains a substantial seal against water flowing through the pipe. In some embodiments, a flexible gasket can be utilized to allow for substantial sealing while the sliding plug is traversing obstacles in the pipe. The sliding plug according to the present invention can be utilized in pipes where conventional plugs are inconvenient. For example, in FELL testing a sewage line, a sliding plug can be attached to a sonde cable and the testing can proceed without plugging and surcharging the section of pipe to be tested. In some embodiments, the sonde can include a pressure transducer which may be monitored to indicate that there is a sufficient water level at the sonde and, in some embodiments, to indicate a leak in the pipe by a drop in the water pressure.
