  • Patent number: 4236107
Abstract: The energizing circuit of an inductor connected across a supply potential source is periodically completed and interrupted at a selected rate. A secondary cell load to be charged is coupled to the inductor through a diode that is poled in such a manner that the secondary cell load is isolated thereby from the inductor energizing circuit during the periods that the energizing circuit is completed and the secondary cell load is charged through the diode by the charging current produced by the potential induced in the inductor upon each interruption of the inductor energizing circuit.

  • Patent number: 4228684
Abstract: A circuit is provided for measuring the effect of temperature on the voltage drop across the semiconductor junction sensor which is located remotely from the measuring circuit and connected thereto by a pair of conductors having substantial lead resistance. The circuit provides a programmed current source which alternately provides to the sensor first and second currents of different magnitudes having a fixed ratio to produce corresponding voltages across the conductors wherein each voltage includes a lead component arising from the lead resistance and the respective current. A sample and hold circuit measures each of the voltages and an amplifier multiplies one of the voltages by the current ratio and the resultant voltages are compared to obtain an output free of any lead component and which varies with the temperature of the sensor.

  • Patent number: 4135390
Abstract: An engine output shaft is bolted to the hub of a drive plate or flex plate, the outer periphery of which is fastened to the torque converter of an automatic transmission such that the engine torque is transmitted by the drive plate from the engine to the transmission. An arcuate array of slots extending between the hub and the periphery of the drive plate define a plurality of spokes which carry the torque. The spokes bend or flex by an amount which is proportional to the torque. A pair of electromagnetic pickups are secured to the engine adjacent the inner and outer ends of the spokes respectively in order to obtain a measure of the spoke deflection and, therefore, of torque. A torque signal is electronically derived from the output of the pickups.

  • Patent number: 4024458
Abstract: Two phase displaced alternating current wave forms are generated by a magnetic pickup arrangement including two each split pole tips in magnetic circuit relationship with a rotatable toothed disk and structure for changing the phase relationship of each of the generated wave forms at predetermined intervals, the pole tips being mechanically separated from each other about the periphery of the disk by a distance determined by the desired wave form phase displacement and the desired duration of a periodic system output signal. Auxiliary alternating current wave forms are produced from the generated wave forms to provide a plurality of equally phase displaced alternating current wave forms and all are converted to square wave forms.
