  • Publication number: 20240003395
Abstract: A piston assembly is disclosed herein. The piston assembly includes a piston having a first end, an opposing second end, and a sidewall extending from the first end to the second end, the piston further including a cavity at least partially defined by the sidewall, a spring guide having a first end and an opposing second end, the spring guide disposed within the cavity of the piston and adjacent the sidewall, an insulator having a first portion extending from the second end of the piston and a second portion disposed within the piston, an insulator shield disposed adjacent the first portion of the insulator, and a component coupled to the second end of the spring guide, the component being offset from the insulator shield by a distance.

  • Publication number: 20230382159
Abstract: A heat shield for a wheel assembly may comprise a plurality of heat shield segments and a plurality of heat shield retainers coupled to the plurality of heat shield segments. A plurality of shield bumpers may be coupled to a radially outward surface of each heat shield segment of the plurality of arcuate heat shield segments. A first retainer bumper may be located over a first radially outward surface of each heat shield retainer of the plurality of heat shield retainers.

  • Patent number: 11802603
Abstract: A heat shield for an aircraft wheel assembly is made of a heat shield material evenly distributed across the heat shield along both the circumferential and the axial directions. The heat shield material has a high thermal conductivity greater than 30 W/mK. In various embodiments, the thermal conductivity is greater than 85 W/mK. In this manner, thermal flux is maximized throughout the heat shield to distribute heat evenly across the heat shield in both circumferential and axial directions.

  • Publication number: 20230303240
Abstract: A wheel and brake assembly comprising: a stator; a rotating assembly mounted around and rotatable relative to the stator about an axis A; a torque tube in fixed engagement with the stator; a stack of brake disks mounted about the torque tube, the stack of brake disks comprising alternate rotor disks and stator disks, the stator disks attached to the torque tube and the rotor disks attached to the rotating assembly; a brake actuator configured to, in response to a brake command, apply a pressing force on the stack of brake disks to cause frictional engagement between the rotor disks and the stator disks such that the stator disks prevent the rotor disks and, hence the rotating assembly, from rotating relative to the torque tube.
