  • Publication number: 20230350663
Abstract: A method for validating a version of wind turbine control software is disclosed. A first version of the wind turbine control software and a second version of the wind turbine control software are running simultaneously on a controller, by applying identical control input to the first version and to the second version, and the first and the second versions of the wind turbine control software each generating control output, based on the received control input. The wind turbine or wind farm is controlled based on the control output generated by the first version of the wind turbine control software. The control output generated by the first version and by the second version of the wind turbine control software are compared, during a time interval, and the second version of the wind turbine control software is validated, based on the comparison.

  • Publication number: 20230313778
Abstract: The invention provides a method for controlling a wind power plant that receive operating command requests via a distributed system comprising a plurality of subsystems each associated with a respective party capable of issuing requests. One subsystem generates a request to operate the wind power plant in accordance with a defined operating command desired by the associated party. The request is broadcast to each of the other subsystems to approve or disapprove the requests. Each subsystem broadcasts to the other subsystems if it approves the request, and each subsystem maintains a database including a record of which subsystems have approved the request. The wind power plant is controlled based on which subsystems have approved the request, where at least one subsystem other than the subsystem that generates the request needs to have approved the request before the plant implements the defined operating command.

  • Patent number: 11725628
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling power generation of a power plant which comprises power generating units including a wind turbine. At least one power unit is operated in a non-controlled mode with a non-curtailed power set-point, and at least one other power unit is operated in a controlled mode with a curtailed power set-point. Positive capabilities are determined as the difference between the available power and the curtailed power production. The total positive capability is determined as the sum of positive capabilities. The proportion of the power units intended to be operated in the non-controlled mode is determined as a function of the total positive capability. Dependent on the difference between the determined proportion and an actual proportion the status from non-controlled mode to controlled mode, or vice versa, of one or more of the power units is changed.

  • Publication number: 20210098992
Abstract: The present invention relates to a state machine for controlling a wind power plant (WPP), comprising at least one wind turbine connected to an electrical grid, the state machine is adapted to, receive a plant power reference (P_total) according to at least one electrical value of the electrical grid, manage a plurality of control modes and output signals, in relation to the plurality of control modes, select within the control modes, according to controller inputs and contingency at that moment in time, transfer the corresponding control values to a power controller, and dispatch a power reference to each of the at least one wind turbines according to the selected control mode. The invention also relates to a control system arranged to control power output of a wind power plant (WPP), comprising at least one wind turbine connected to an electrical grid, and the control system having a state machine.

  • Patent number: 10539118
Abstract: A wind power plant has a plurality of wind turbine generators and a power plant controller arranged to communicate with the plurality of wind turbines generators. Each wind turbine generator has a controller arranged to control an active power output in its respective wind turbine generator according to an active power set point received from the wind power plant controller. A change in the active power reference changes the active power set point for each wind turbine generator by a weighting factor.
