Abstract: A method for billing a subscriber to a cellular telephone service for a VoIP call made by the subscriber, the method including determining when a subscriber to a cellular telephone service places a telephone call to a remote device using a local device associated with the subscription, where the telephone call has at least one VoIP call leg, capturing session information related to the telephone call, including information identifying the subscriber, and providing the information to a provider of the cellular telephone service, thereby enabling the cellular telephone service provider to bill the subscriber for the VoIP call.

Abstract: A system and method for providing conference calls in a client-server environment is described. In some aspects, conference calling is made possible and efficient for mobile users, including mobile hosts of the conference call who may arrange and set up the conference call easily from a mobile device with the assistance of an application server and/or a call conference server. Also, other mobile users may easily participate in such conference calls from their mobile devices.

Abstract: A system for transmitting digital data representing an original over plural transmission links, at least some of which have limited bandwidth, including a digital data source storing digital data representing the original, a digital data receiver receiving the digital data representing the original via one of the plural transmission links having limited bandwidth and a digital data transmitter operative to transmit the digital data representing the original to the receiver over a transmission link having a limited bandwidth in plural blocks which are sequentially transmitted at a rate determined by the limited bandwidth, each block being an incomplete collection of data which includes parts of multiple frames, each frame being viewable in a selectable order by the receiver even when less than all of the plural blocks have been received, receipt of subsequent blocks by the receiver being used to cumulatively improve the quality of the digital data viewed by the receiver.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for establishing a voice call between a wireless device and a personal computer (PC) are disclosed. A call initiation message can be received at a server including information for the PC from the wireless device. A conference can be setup, including establishing a conference ID to conference the wireless device and the PC. A message can be generated for the PC containing voice contact information for the wireless device related to the conference ID. The message can be transmitted to the PC. A dial-in phone number can be transmitted to the wireless device to dial into the conference.

Abstract: Providing data to a computer software application by intercepting a request made by a computer software application to retrieve a first data set from a first data storage location, accessing a record, defined in advance of the request, that includes a reference to the first data set and a reference to a second data set, retrieving the first data set from a data storage location other than the first data storage location, and retrieving the second data set from a data storage location other than the first data storage location in advance of a request by the computer software application to access the second data set at the first data storage location.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for establishing a conference call may include receiving, a registration request for the conference call with one or more participants. The methods and apparatus may further include sending a notification to the participant with an invitation comprising conference call information to join the conference call. In addition, the methods and apparatus may include receiving a request from the participant to join the conference call by selecting the conference call information in the invitation. The methods and apparatus may further include establishing the conference call with the participant.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing voicemail services to callers of wireless devices may include providing customized outgoing messages to callers based upon the caller's identification. A subscriber to the voicemail service may select one or more contacts associated with the subscriber to receive a customized outgoing message while the remaining callers receive a general outgoing message. The methods and apparatus may further include distributing voicemail messages from a subscriber's voicemail accounts to one or more social networking sites. The subscriber to the voicemail services may share one or more received voicemail messages via one or more social networking accounts associated with the subscriber.

If a TCP socket can be opened, the method may include opening a TCP socket with the mobile device and sending to the mobile device one or more instructions for activating the mobile device. A request for data transfer may be received from the mobile device, and the data message may be retrieved from the computer-readable storage medium. The data message may be sent to the mobile device over the TCP socket.

Abstract: A method of authenticating a caller and authorizing a cal lee in a user-device environment may include receiving, by a gateway, a logon request comprising information associated with a caller and determining whether the caller is a subscriber based on at least a portion of the received caller information. If the caller is a subscriber, an other gateway may receive information associated with a callee who belongs to a contact list associated with the caller. The other gateway may determine whether the callee is authorized based on at least the callee information and the caller information, and if the callee is authorized, a call between the caller and the callee may be connected.
