  • Publication number: 20210312543
Abstract: The present embodiments relate to systems and methods for using a blockchain that tracks vehicle lifecycles by Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or other vehicle identifier to determine whether a vehicle is over or under financed. A mileage report and VIN is received and a transaction is broadcast to the blockchain tracking. An actual cash value (ACV) of the vehicle is then determined using the mileage report and/or other information stored in the shared ledger including a loan payoff value, financing value, etc. regarding the vehicle and searchable according to VIN. It is then determined whether the vehicle is over-financed or under-financed by comparing to loan payoff value with the ACV.

  • Publication number: 20210312405
Abstract: The present embodiments relate to systems and methods for using a blockchain to record information related to the lifecycle of a vehicle associated with a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), or other vehicle identifier. For example, the VIN lifecycle process may be used to facilitate compliance when an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) conducts a recall. The systems and methods may include receiving a recall notice indicating a vehicle type has been recalled, and updating a VIN record for a vehicle matching the vehicle type to associate the VIN record with the recall notice. The systems and methods described herein may allow for using a blockchain which gives the option for private information, and permissioned participants in the blockchain. In particular, the systems and methods may allow for a distributed consensus amongst businesses, consumers, and authorities, as to the validity of information and transactions stored on the blockchain.

  • Publication number: 20210304313
Abstract: In a computer-implemented method for detecting and acting upon driver compliance with driver-specific limitations, it is determined that a driver of a vehicle has one or more limitations specific to a medical condition and/or a physical characteristic of the driver. Telematics data is received and analyzed to identify a plurality of driving behaviors of the driver. Based upon the driving behaviors, a level of compliance with the limitations is determined. Based upon the level of compliance, at least a portion of a driver profile is set. At least the portion of the profile is transmitted to an entity that adjusts a credit rating of the driver, adjusts an insurance rating of the driver, reviews at least the portion of the profile in connection with a job sought by the driver, or offers a permanent or temporary credit in connection with a good or service offered by the entity. As a result, benefits or cost savings may be provided to risk-averse drivers.

  • Publication number: 20210279808
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed with respect to using a distributed ledger, such as a blockchain, for insurance record management systems. The distributed ledger may be utilized to look up information pertaining to a person's insurance. For example, when a driver is pulled over by law enforcement for speeding, the driver may wish to verify an insurance policy by granting a law enforcement official permission to view his or her insurance records stored on the distributed ledger. Advantageously, the distributed ledger could consequently eliminate the need to carry physical proof of insurance.

  • Publication number: 20210272145
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of incentivizing an insurance agent to update a blockchain. The method includes receiving, at one or more processors, a message indicating an agent updated a blockchain with information about a customer or a real estate property. The method further includes increasing, according to an interval of time, a score of the agent for at least one item of information about one or more of the customer or the real estate property updated to the blockchain. The method still further includes calculating an agent rating based upon the score of the agent, the agent rating used to compute one or more of compensation or bonus of the agent.

  • Publication number: 20210272207
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for determining a driving score for an individual and updating a related vehicle-usage profile. The system and methods may include one or more processors, sensors, or transceivers to determine that an individual associated with an auto insurance policy is located in a driver seat of a vehicle for a vehicle trip. Telematics data may be collected from the sensors that indicates a time of day and an amount of time that the individual typically drives the vehicle. The telematics may be associated with the individual and a driving score for the individual may be determined. A vehicle-usage profile for the vehicle may then be updated with the telematics data or the driving score. The vehicle-usage profile may indicate a driving behavior of the individual and an auto insurance policy may be updated based on the profile.

  • Patent number: 11107365
Abstract: Methods and systems are described regarding vehicular driver evaluation. Various aspects may include monitoring a vehicle operating environment in which a vehicle is operating. A target vehicle operating within the vehicle operating environment may be identified based upon sensor data from one or more sensors associated with the vehicle. An indication of an identity of the target vehicle may be recorded and an indication of an evaluation of an operation of the target vehicle may be received by the operator of the vehicle. The indication of the evaluation of the operation of the target vehicle may indicate the quality of operation of the target vehicle. The indication of the identity of the target vehicle and the indication of the evaluation of the operation of the target vehicle may be transmitted to a remote server.

  • Publication number: 20210264526
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed with respect to using a distributed ledger for use with vehicle sensor data and usage based systems. These usage based systems may be opt-in programs wherein a driver volunteers to install one or more vehicle sensors configured to monitor various characteristics associated with a vehicle (e.g., speed, acceleration, cornering, braking, path, etc.) that are utilized to develop a profile including information quantifying, for example, a driver's habits. Advantageously for the driver, such a profile can be utilized to reward safe drivers with lower insurance rates, including lower usage-based insurance rates.
