  • Publication number: 20070073805
Abstract: A method for allocating a shared wireless bandwidth in a packet-centric wireless point to multi-point telecommunications system. The method includes allocating the shared bandwidth between a wireless base station and one or more subscriber customer premises equipment (CPE) stations. The method can include dynamically allocating the shared bandwidth. The method can include allocating the shared bandwidth on a frame basis, such as (1) allocating the frame of the shared bandwidth in an uplink direction from a subscriber CPE station to the wireless base station; or (2) allocating the frame of the shared bandwidth in a downlink direction from the wireless base station to a subscriber CPE station.

  • Publication number: 20070050492
Abstract: A method for integrating differentiated services (DiffServ) marked IP-Flows into quality of service (QoS) priorities in a wireless point to multi-point (PtMP) transmission system. The system includes: a wireless base station coupled to a first data network, one or more host workstations coupled to the first data network, one or more subscriber customer premise equipment (CPE) stations in wireless communication with the wireless base station over a shared bandwidth using a packet centric protocol, one or more subscriber workstations coupled to each of the subscriber CPE stations over a second network, and a resource allocator that allocates shared bandwidth among the subscriber CPE stations. Included are the steps of: analyzing an IP flow for a differentiated services (DiffServ) marking; and scheduling the IP flows taking into account any the DiffServ marking.

  • Publication number: 20070038752
Abstract: A quality of service (QoS) aware, wireless point to multi-point telecommunications system is provided. The system includes a wireless base station coupled to a first data network; one or more host workstations coupled to the first data network; one or more subscriber customer premise equipment (CPE) stations in wireless communication with the wireless base station over a shared bandwidth using a packet-centric protocol; one or more subscriber workstations coupled to each of the subscriber CPE stations over a second network; and a resource allocation device that allocates shared bandwidth among the subscriber stations. The resource allocation is performed to optimize end-user QoS.

  • Publication number: 20070038736
Abstract: A time domain multiple access/time division duplex (TDMA/TDD) media access control (MAC) transmission frame includes: one or more dynamically allocatable control packets for providing control information over a wireless medium between a wireless base station and one or more subscriber customer premises equipment (CPE) stations; and one or more dynamically allocatable data packets for providing data information over a wireless medium between a wireless base station and one or more subscriber customer premises equipment (CPE) stations. The control packets can include at least one of: a downstream acknowledgment slot; a reservation request slot; an operations data slot; an upstream acknowledgment slot; an acknowledgment request slot; a frame descriptor slot; a command and control slot.

  • Publication number: 20070038753
Abstract: A packet centric wireless point-to-multipoint (PtMP) telecommunications system is provided. The telecommunications system includes a wireless network that provides for true QoS. A media access control (MAC) layer is used in a packet-centric wireless point to multi-point (PtMP) telecommunications system, the telecommunications system includes a wireless base station coupled to a first data network, one or more host workstations coupled to the first data network, one or more subscriber customer premise equipment (CPE) stations in wireless communication with the wireless base station over a shared bandwidth using a packet-centric protocol, and one or more subscriber workstations coupled to each of the subscriber CPE stations over a second network. The MAC layer includes a resource allocation means that allocates shared bandwidth among the subscriber CPE stations to optimize end-user quality of service (QoS).

  • Publication number: 20070038750
Abstract: A method for providing quality of service (QoS) aware, wireless point to multi-point telecommunications in a telecommunications system. The telecommunications system includes: a wireless base station coupled to a first data network; one or more host workstations coupled to the first data network; one or more subscriber customer premise equipment (CPE) stations in wireless communications with the wireless base station over a shared bandwidth using a packet-centric protocol; one or more subscriber workstations coupled to each of the subscriber CPE stations over a second network. The method includes allocating shared bandwidth among the subscriber CPE stations in a manner to optimize end-user QoS. The method includes analyzing and scheduling IP flows over the shared wireless bandwidth. This includes identifying the IP flows; characterizing the IP flows; classifying the IP flows; and prioritizing the IP flows.

  • Publication number: 20050232193
Abstract: A packet-centric wireless point to multi-point telecommunications system includes: a wireless base station communicating via a packet-centric protocol to a first data network; one or more host workstations communicating via the packet-centric protocol to the first data network; one or more subscriber customer premise equipment (CPE) stations coupled with the wireless base station over a shared bandwidth via the packet-centric protocol over a wireless medium; and one or more subscriber workstations coupled via the packet-centric protocol to each of the subscriber CPE stations over a second network. The packet-centric protocol can be transmission control protocol/internet protocol (TCP/IP). The packet-centric protocol can be a user datagram protocol/internet protocol (UDP/IP). The system can include a resource allocation means for allocating shared bandwidth among the subscriber CPE stations. The resource allocation is performed to optimize end-user quality of service (QoS).
