  • Patent number: 10144698
Abstract: A methanol/MMA azeotrope is broken or avoided by a method comprising the steps of (1) raising the pressure within a first vessel, e.g., a distillation column, that contains a methanol/MMA azeotrope, (2) collecting the azeotrope as a liquid, and then in a second, separate vessel, e.g., another distillation column, (3) raising the pressure sufficiently to allow for the breaking of or avoidance of the azeotrope and the recovery of the methanol.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 2, 2015
Date of Patent: December 4, 2018
Assignees: Dow Global Technologies LLC, Rohm and Haas Company
Inventors: John G. Pendergast, William G. Worley, Stacy W. Hoy, IV, Jacob M. Crosthwaite
  • Patent number: 10059651
Abstract: The azeotrope, or near azeotrope, of methanol and MMA is separated via extractive distillation using an extractive distillation solvent comprising cyclohexanone.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 7, 2015
Date of Patent: August 28, 2018

  • Publication number: 20160207853
Abstract: A process for extracting divinylarene from a composition mixture stream comprising at least an ethylvinylarene and at least a divinylarene, the process comprising the steps of: (a) contacting a composition mixture stream comprising at least an ethylvinylarene and at least a divinylarene with a liquid extractive agent such that at least a portion of the divinylarene present in the composition mixture is extracted into the liquid extractive agent; and (b) recovering at least a portion of the divinylarene extracted from the ethylvinylarene stream to form a divinylarene product stream; wherein the divinylarene product stream contains at least 50 weight percent divinylarene; and an apparatus for extracting divinylarene from the composition mixture stream.
