Publication number: 20250215691Abstract: A ridge vent system is provided including a ridge vent having opposing exterior sidewalls that each define multiple fastener recesses that extend inward from the exterior sidewalls and downward from a top plate. The ridge vent can include ventilation elements within the exterior sidewalls and/or fastener recesses. The ridge vent can include an air permeable filter membrane that can be secured to bottom walls of the fastener recesses to impair environmental elements from entering a structure therethrough, yet still provide air flow out the vent. The ridge vent can be in sheet or roll form, depending on the application. The ridge vent can provide enhanced attic ventilation and/or airflow through the ridge vent, while still providing fastener recesses that facilitate rapid and efficient application of fasteners therethrough.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 21, 2025Publication date: July 3, 2025Inventors: Leon W. Thompson, Jacob M. Thompson

Patent number: 12286275Abstract: A roof vent package provides dual functionality to transport and store roof vents, such as ridge vents, and to offer a disposal receptacle for jobsite debris. The package can include a ridge vent bag constructed from a flexible material to include multiple sidewalls, a closure flap that selectively covers an opening of a compartment in which ridge vents are stored, and a closure flap with a closure element to maintain the closure flap in a closed configuration over the opening. A related method includes storing and transporting ridge vents in the compartment of the bag, operating the closure flap to open the compartment and gain access to the ridge vents, removing the ridge vents from the compartment, and placing jobsite debris in the compartment of the ridge vent bag, where the ridge vents were previously located, to store the jobsite debris in the ridge vent bag for later disposal.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2023Date of Patent: April 29, 2025Assignee: American Flashings and Accessories, LLCInventors: Jacob M. Thompson, Nathan L. Thompson, Leon W. Thompson

Patent number: 10508450Abstract: A kick out flashing includes a base for placement adjacent a roof, a sidewall for placement adjacent a wall by the roof, a first kick out wall angled away from the sidewall, an intermediate wall joined with the first kick out wall, distal from and optionally parallel to the sidewall, and a second kick out wall angled away from the intermediate wall, the second kick out wall distal from the sidewall and downstream from the first kick out wall. The sidewall, intermediate wall and a bottom wall can form a channel that receives a J channel or other wall covering. The first kick out wall can prevent water from traveling directly under the bottom wall and/or the channel, diverting it away from the sidewall. The second kick out wall can further divert water away from the channel and/or sidewall.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2018Date of Patent: December 17, 2019Assignee: American Flashings and Accessories, LLCInventors: Leon W. Thompson, Nathan L. Thompson, Jacob M. Thompson
