Patent number: 7614184Abstract: An operator comprising a housing ending in a flange is provided with a turret incorporating a stepped bore for locating a worm shaft of a drive mechanism. A first seal is disposed between the worm shaft and the stepped bore. A second seal is interposed between the flange and a frame of a window. An interconnecting mechanism driven by the worm shaft comprises a pair of worm arms followed by a pair of links. The former and the latter are provided with male and female ends using, respectively, a calotte of a sphere complemented by a spherical shaped recess. Thus, between the pair of worm arms and the pair of links, pivotal joints are formed.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2004Date of Patent: November 10, 2009Inventors: Jacob Rebel, Hong Chen

Patent number: 7559584Abstract: A dual-hook locking assembly mounted in a casing subassembly is actuated from outside of the latter by a handle which causes a locking subassembly to operate between an unlocked and a locked position. By rotating the driving handle, a gearing subassembly including a pair of meshed segmental gears drives the locking subassembly between the aforementioned positions. The gearing subassembly and the locking subassembly are directly interconnected. An adjusting subassembly is used for positioning the locking subassembly with respect to a strike plate of a door. The adjusting subassembly comprises several guiding plates. The latter and the gearing subassembly have a common center of rotation.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2007Date of Patent: July 14, 2009Assignee: Vanguard Plastics Ltd.Inventors: Jacob Rebel, Kai Zhang, Hong Chen

Patent number: 7533496Abstract: A building window includes a generally rectangular frame having an upper rail and opposed side rails. An upper sash and a lower sash are independently movably mounted in the frame. A pair of opposed spring detents are mounted on the side rails adjacent to the upper rail of the frame. A pair of laterally opposed latches are at upper corners of the upper sash at positions to engage the spring detents as the upper sash is moved to its fully raised position. The latches cooperate with the spring detents to hold the upper sash in its fully raised position and are releasable from the spring detents to permit lowering of the upper sash.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2006Date of Patent: May 19, 2009Assignee: Milgard Manufacturing, Inc.Inventors: John Tremble, Hong Chen, Jacob Rebel

Patent number: 7165791Abstract: A positive action fenestration lock, i.e. adaptable to be attached to a moving window profile and to interact, by sliding, with a fixed window profile, said positive action fenestration lock comprises: a hollow body closed by a base plate; a bolt-wedge displaceable rectilinearly with respect to the hollow body and the base plate, respectively; a button located generally in the hollow body and pivotally connected to the base; an actuator and a flat spring, the latter being attached to the former, controlling together the rectilinear movement of the bolt-wedge, while the latter is activated by the button; a pair of restoring torsion springs, located between the base plate and the button, for resisting against a torque caused by the button, the latter being adaptable to be finger pressed by an operator; and a helical compression spring acting permanently on the actuator and, impliedly, on the flat spring.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2004Date of Patent: January 23, 2007Inventors: Jacob Rebel, Kai Zhang
