    Abstract: Spinal surgical procedures for implanting intervertebral devices, and associated devices and systems are described herein. A representative spinal surgical procedure can include gaining access to a diseased disc of a spine of a patient via a minimally-invasive a lateral, transpedicular, transfacet, or transforaminal access pathway. Various instruments can be inserted through the trocar to (i) remove some or all of the diseased disc, (ii) expand a disc space around the diseased disc, (iii) insert an intervertebral device into the disc space, and/or (iv) fill the intervertebral device with a fill material. Each of the aforementioned steps can be performed through the minimally-invasive access pathway provided by the trocar. This can minimize disruption to the flesh of the patient—minimizing patient pain and recovery time.

    Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for modifying pain sensitivity in a subject. Example systems can include a plurality of sensors configured to detect electroencephalography (EEG) signals in the subject, and a processor communicably coupled to the plurality of sensors. The processor can be configured to receive first EEG signals from the sensors and determine, based on the first EEG signals, at least one of (i) a first value for a predicted pain sensitivity (PPS) associated with the subject or (ii) a second value for a peak alpha frequency (PAF) associated with the subject. The processor can be further configured to receive second EEG signals from the sensors and provide feedback to the subject when a characteristic of the second EEG-signals indicates a. reduced pain sensitivity.

    Abstract: A facility (e.g., data center) for more efficient cooling of computing devices is disclosed. In one embodiment, the data center comprises a set of external walls, a ceiling connected to the external walls and having circular exhaust openings, and one or more pods positioned within the external walls and below the ceiling. A set of flexible tubes are used to connect the pod exhaust openings to the ceiling openings. Actuating closures may be used (e.g., at one end of each of the tubes) to control airflow, and air pressure sensors may be placed near or inside one or more of the tubes. A controller may be configured to receive air pressure data from the air pressure sensors and adjust the actuating closures to maintain a desired air pressure level. In some examples, the actuating closure may have a normally closed position when power is not applied.

Such arrangement affords topological protection against disorders or perturbations in the network that may hinder or block photon flow. As a result of a disorder, photons traversing along edge states of the array are rerouted based on the disorder or perturbation. Photon routing in the network is accordingly protected against disorder or defects.
