Abstract: A filter arrangement for a vacuum cleaning appliance includes: a filter enclosure having an enclosure opening; a filter configured to be received through the enclosure opening into the filter enclosure in an insertion direction; and retention means operable between latched and unlatched states for releasably retaining the filter in the filter enclosure. The filter includes an actuation portion configured to operate the retention means, wherein the actuation portion is moveable between at least first and second positions and is biased towards the second position. When the filter is in the filter enclosure, movement of the actuation portion in the insertion direction from the first position to a depressed position transitions the retention means to the unlatched state, whereinafter the actuation portion is moved to the second position in which at least a part of the actuation portion is elevated above the enclosure opening.

The sensor may include a functional layer, wherein the functional layer may be coated on the plurality of walls, wherein the functional layer comprises an extraction component to extract an analyte of interest, at least one amplification initiator to amplify the analyte of interest after extraction, and a material coating the plurality of walls providing an initial surface energy for at least a portion of the plurality of surfaces of the plurality of walls. The initial surface energy of at least the portion of the plurality of surfaces of the plurality of walls provided by the material coating may change when the analyte of interest is present.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for applying graduated pressure to an underlying surface. An exemplary device is a graduated compression device or a graduated pressure bandage, that is able to apply graduated pressure to a limb, with higher pressure being applied at one end of the device, e.g. near the ankle in use, and gradually applying less pressure at the other end of the device, e.g. such that the lowest pressure is applied to the end of the stocking closest to the thigh in use.
