  • Patent number: 4888483
Abstract: The invention provides apparatus for measuring nuclear radiation. The apparatus includes a probe which comprises a synthetic diamond and a FET pre-amplifier. A DC bias voltage is applied across the diamond and the pre-amplifier amplifies pulse or conduction signals from the diamond due to incident radiation. The pre-amplifier provides a first output having only an AC component, and a second output having both an AC and a DC component. A DC feedback stage applies a feedback signal to the input of the pre-amplifier to improve its dynamic range.

  • Patent number: 4280625
Abstract: The invention relates to the measurement of the shade of a particle. The particle is illuminated with light of variable intensity and viewed against a background level of illumination. A measurement is made of the ratio of time for which the intensity of light from the particle exceeds the intensity of the background to obtain a measurement of the shade of the particle.
