    Abstract: The invention relates to a reflective flat-panel color display device (1) having a diffusing display panel (3). The display panel (3) comprises a diffusing liquid crystalline material (5) present between a first and a second substrate (7, 9). A color filter pattern (15) which corresponds to the pixel pattern of the display panel (3) is present between the liquid crystalline material (5) and the second substrate (9). A diffusing reflector is present at the side of the color filter pattern (15) remote from the liquid crystalline material (5). In another embodiment, a reflector (17), which has a diffusing or non-diffusing effect, is present outside the display panel (3) and a forward diffuser (33) is arranged between this reflector (17) and the display panel (3).

    Abstract: Display device (1) comprising an illumination system (3) having a radiation source (17; 31, 35) for supplying a radiation beam. The display device (1) also comprises a diffusing display panel (5). This panel (5) consists of an optically active diffusing medium (7) which is switchable between a transparent, polarization-maintaining state and a diffusing, depolarizing state for the radiation beam. The medium (7) is present between a first polarizer (9) having a first state of polarization and a second polarizer (11) having a second, complementary state of polarization. At least the first polarizer (9) is a reflecting polarizer and polarization-converting means (10) are arranged at a side of the first polarizer (9) facing away from the display panel (5).

    Abstract: Picture display device (1) comprising an illumination system (3) and a picture display panel (7) which is provided with a matrix of pixels. The picture display panel (7) may be a transmissive or a reflective picture display panel. In the case of a transmissive picture display panel, a first microlens array (19) is arranged at the illumination side of the picture display panel (7), and a second microlens array (21) is arranged at the side of the picture display panel (7) remote from the illumination system (3). In the case of a reflective picture display panel, the picture display device (1) comprises only one microlens array (61) which is arranged between the illumination system (3) and the picture display panel (7). In both cases, the number of lenses (23, 25; 63) of a microlens array (19, 21; 61) corresponds to the number of pixels (27) of the picture display panel (7).

    Abstract: A food processor is provided having a motor (18), a bowl (10) and a beater (12) which are movable relative to each other by a drive by the motor (18), a switching means (48) for switching the motor (18) on and off under the control of a start signal (START) and at least a first stop signal (STOP1) respectively, torsion measuring means (28/30, 32/34) for producing a torsion signal (TS) which is a measure for the torque necessary for the drive, a signal processing unit (42) for producing at least the first stop signal (STOP1) in response to the torsion signal (TS). The signal processing unit (42) includes a first differentiator (56) and/or a second differentiator (58) for producing the first (DTS) and the second derivative (DDTS) of the torsion signal (TS) and a comparator (62) in which the first (DTS) or second (DDTS) derivative is compared with a reference value (REF1). When the reference value is exceeded, the comparator produces a stop signal (STOP1) to switch off the motor (18).
