Abstract: A mat apparatus for preventing the transmittal and/or transference of contact-based bacteria is disclosed. A first layer of the mat is composed of a cloth-like textile, the first layer having a plurality of pores for absorbing moisture when in contact with a bodily surface. A second layer is composed of a water-resistant material adhered to an opposing side of the first layer for providing a barrier between the first layer and a floor, wherein at least another portion of the second layer extending beyond the first layer is bent to avoid contacting the floor.
