Jacques Chabanne has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 7299642
Abstract: The invention relates to an exchanger, advantageously a plate exchanger, comprising counter-current parallel exchange sections (8,9). According to the invention, the exchange section for the water (8) has an essentially constant cross-section, whereas the exchange section (9) for the cryogen has a reduced inlet region (9a) enabling the possible formation of ice (10) in the water passage (8) to be concentrated on a small volume, without blocking said water passage. The invention can especially be applied to the supply of gaseous hydrogen stored in a liquid form to an on-board power generating device in a vehicle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 18, 2004
Date of Patent: November 27, 2007
Assignee: L'Air Liquide, Societe Anonyme a Directoire et Conseil de Surveillance pour l'Etude et l'Exploitation des Procedes Georges Claude
Inventors: Robert Moracchioli, Pierre Briend, Véronique Grabie, Jacques Chabanne

  • Patent number: 4383576
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process of accumulation and restitution of heat, wherein heat, mainly in the form of latent heat of fusion, is stored, as required, by causing a hot heat-transfer fluid to circulate in the lower part of a bed of material in grain form with considerable latent heat of fusion, the temperature of the fluid being higher than the melting point of the material which melts under the effect of the additional calories from the fluid, and heat stored by the material in the liquid state is restituted, as required, by circulating and bringing into contact the material and the fluid, the temperature of the latter being lower than the melting point of the material, with the result that the latter yields heat to the fluid on solidifying in the form of grains before being transported into a tank for storing the material in grain form. The invention also relates to a heat accumulator for carrying out the process.
