  • Patent number: 5275408
Abstract: A golf club with a head provided, on its upper part, with a neck on which is affixed the lower part of a handle by the neck and the handle fitting into each other. The base of the contact surface of the golf club, between the external side of the neck and the internal side of the handle, is distant from the base of the neck, by which the latter connects to the upper part of the head, at a predetermined length which is equal to that which will eventually be subjected to bending.

  • Patent number: 5197737
Abstract: A golf club, particularly a putter, having a head which includes an elongated element affixed to a shell and a method of assembling the golf club. The elongated element includes two laterally spaced masses, a linking portion extending between the two laterally spaced masses and a generally planar front surface constituting a golf ball striking surface. The shell, which is adapted to have a shaft extending therefrom, includes a front portion having an opening for receiving and seating the elongated element, while leaving the generally planar front surface exposed.

  • Patent number: 5184819
Abstract: This invention relates to a golf club incorporating a head (1, 20, 46) provided in its upper part with a neck (7, 25, 40, 70) to which is attached a shaft (13, 32, 40). The neck is made separately from the head and is fixed thereto with an intermediate ring (9, 30, 52) interposed between them.

  • Patent number: 5174573
Abstract: A putter having a head with golf ball-centering indicia. The ball-centering indicia include a curvilinear reference which is tangent to the edge formed between the upper surface of the head and the ball-striking surface, or to a parallel line proximate the edge. The curvilinear reference has a radius of curvature which the substantially equal to the nominal radius of a golf ball and is subtended, with reference to the center of curvature by a center angle less than 180.degree. and preferably about 90.degree.. The ball-centering indicia further include a rectilinear reference formed, for example, by a pair of parallel segments positioned symmetrically on both sides of the normal to the tangent point, extending along the direction of the aiming axis. A parallax correction reference can also be provided which enables the golfer to ensure that the head of the putter is properly horizontally positioned about the aiming axis.

  • Patent number: 5106094
Abstract: A golf club head, and a process of manufacturing a golf club head, in which the golf club head includes a body having an interior space, a cover plate for attachment to the body, the cover plate having a surface forming a golf ball striking surface, and a quantity of material within at least a portion of the interior space, for assisting in securing the cover plate to the body. The quantity of material can be a filler material which is injected or poured, prior to installing the shaft on the club head, through sleeve which communicates with the interior space of the body of the head.

  • Patent number: 5078400
Abstract: Golf clubs are disclosed having weighted tips and weighted hosels so as to achieve a predetermined weight distribution in both the horizontal and vertical direction. The distance between the hosel and tip weights is maximized as a result of their respective geometries relative to the center of gravity of the club head, and the stability of the club head is increased both about a horizontal axis and about a vertical axis through the center of gravity. In one version the tip weight is at least twice the weight at the hosel and in another version these weights are substantially indentical.
