  • Patent number: 5820652
Abstract: A sealing system for the engagement of a container (24) beneath a melting pot containing a molten material, comprising a shell (30) surrounding a nozzle (40), the nozzle being located in the axis of the neck of the container and permitting the pouring of the material from the melting pot into the container. The shell (30) has tight connection means with the nozzle (40), a base (32) having a bearing surface for the reception of a corresponding bearing surface on the container neck and at least one bellows (33, 34) surrounding the nozzle and connecting the tight connection means to said base, the bellows being able to render the shell retractable along the nozzle axis, means for introducing a gas flow between said bearing surfaces being provided in order to permit the circulation of part of said flow towards the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 5453192
Abstract: A centrifugal extractor comprising several superimposed stages (E1, E2, E3) has a fixed casing (10) within which rotate at high speed bowls (22) driven by a common vertical shaft (18). An immiscible light liquid and heavy liquid are emulsified and injected into a separating compartment (32) defined by each of the bowls (22) by ducts (54) forming ejectors and which are formed in the lower wall of the corresponding bowl. The light phase passes upwardly from one stage to the next by annular passages (46) surrounding the shaft (18), while the heavy phase redascends by gravity in return channels (44) formed in the fixed casing. This avoids turbulence in the separating compartments (32) and there is a reduction of the risks of clogging as a result of solid particles being present in the heavy phase.

  • Patent number: 4854178
Abstract: A flowmeter for dangerous fluids, using the deformation of a flexible metic diaphragm under the effect of a pressure variation caused by the liquid flow, the flowmeter being placed under a protective plate and comprising a body of general cylindrical shape placed inside a bowl equipped with a lower inlet connection piece for introducing liquid into the bowl and an upper outlet connection piece for receiving liquid leaving the bowl, the body having a calibrated inlet orifice on its lower face, an outlet orifice in its upper lateral part, the metallic diaphragm being situated in said body at the upper interior part of the body above said upper connection piece, and a metallic segment for sealing the joinder between the body and the bowl, at a level situated between the inlet and outlet connection pieces and a hollow pin, joined to said diaphragm and having a lower end extending into the calibrated orifice, the pin having an outlet orifice situated above the metallic diaphragm, the upper end of said pin extendin

  • Patent number: 4492291
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for damping impacts caused by the fall of heavy objects. This device comprises a group of deformable mechanical members arranged perpendicularly to a first plate and a second plate, a supplementary plate having substantially the same weight as each mechanical member being placed between the latter and the second plate. The supplementary plates are contiguous and each mechanical member has at least one predeformation at its end adjacent to the second plate. Application to the protection of discharge ponds against the fall of caskets.

  • Patent number: 4264284
Abstract: A self-priming centrifugal pump is disclosed with a vertical axis adapted for pumping harmful liquids. Such pump embodies fixed body means being closed at its lower end and having a widened upper portion which includes a truncated cone surface. The widened portion acts as a seat. The pump envisions removable means which includes a pump wheel, a cage, and a driving motor with a shaft for the pump wheel and which rests on the seat. The cage of the wheel being provided with at least three generally horizontal partitions which define in conjunction with the pump body a lower suction chamber, a middle delivery chamber, and an upper venting chamber, said suction, delivery and venting chambers being, respectively, connected to a suction pipe, a delivery pipe, and a venting pipe adapted to be connected to an apparatus for the treatment of gases substantially at atmospheric pressure.
