Patent number: 10336874Abstract: An ion exchange resin membrane or an ion exchange precursor resin membrane having a thickness of 25 microns or less and having an orientation ratio of 1.5 or less; which may be produced by co-extruding an ion exchange precursor resin with an incompatible polymer to form a multilayer film having a layer of the ion exchange precursor resin supported on a layer of the incompatible polymer. The layer of incompatible polymer is then removed from the layer of ion exchange precursor resin to provide the ion exchange precursor resin membrane. The ion exchange precursor resin membrane may be converted to an ion exchange resin membrane by hydrolysis, and subsequent acidification if desired.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2017Date of Patent: July 2, 2019Assignee: National Research Council of CanadaInventors: Asmae Mokrini, Francois Vachon, Jacques Dufour

Publication number: 20170369661Abstract: A process for producing an ion exchange precursor resin membrane involves co-extruding an ion exchange precursor resin with an incompatible polymer to form a multilayer film having a layer of the ion exchange precursor resin supported on a layer of the incompatible polymer. The layer of incompatible polymer is then removed from the layer of ion exchange precursor resin to provide the ion exchange precursor resin membrane. The ion exchange precursor resin membrane may be converted to an ion exchange resin membrane by hydrolysis, and subsequent acidification if desired. Ion exchange resin membranes and ion exchange precursor resin membranes having a uniform thickness of 25 microns or less may be formed by the process.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2017Publication date: December 28, 2017Applicant: NATIONAL RESEARCH COUNCIL OF CANADAInventors: Asmae MOKRINI, Francois VACHON, Jacques DUFOUR

Patent number: 5695698Abstract: A process and apparatus for the continuous solid state forming of semicrystalline polymers using roll-drawing is disclosed. The output of an extruded thick polymer profile is stabilized by a gear pump. The profile is passed through a die for the desired geometry and a cooling calibrator. The profile is heat conditioned in heating tunnels to a temperature below the melting point prior to deformation between sets of rolls. A plurality, e.g. four pairs of rolls apply both compression and tension to the polymer profile. The tension applied on the profile, the roll gap, the linear speed of the profile and its temperature are monitored and controlled for the amount of polymer deformation and relaxation allowed. High tensile modulus and strength, both in the longitudinal and transverse direction of the polymeric strip, can be achieved.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1996Date of Patent: December 9, 1997Inventors: Abdellah Ajji, Michel M. Dumoulin, Jacques Dufour

Patent number: 4572190Abstract: A hyperthermia apparatus primarily applicable to the treatment of tumors comprises at least three high-frequency generators connected to three electrodes. The electrodes are intended to be coupled to a patient's body which constitutes the load, thus producing a higher temperature rise in the vicinity of a fictitious electrode in the body. The generators have adjustable phases and amplitudes, the output of each generator being connected to each of the three electrodes.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1984Date of Patent: February 25, 1986Assignee: CGR/MEVInventors: Guy Azam, Guy Convert, Jacques Dufour, Claude Jasmin, Joel Sidi

Patent number: 4340876Abstract: A mounting for a magnetic armature intended particularly for minicompact relays and provided with a housing encasing a magnetic coil, a magnetic armature and a spring is angled and held tiltably against the magnetic yoke by means of its spring force. The spring force is applied to the yoke by the flat spring strip freely inserted into the housing of the relay, which for this purpose is supported under prestress with its front side ends abutting the walls of the housing or with one end abutting the wall and with the other end abutting the switch spring or the switch spring and a switch spring support and/or contact and a contact spring support, while abutting, at its bend on the magnetic armature.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1980Date of Patent: July 20, 1982Inventors: Wolfgang Dammert, Horst Enge, Jacques Dufour

Patent number: 4312364Abstract: An apparatus for thermal treatment of the human body, using electromagnetic waves (200 to 2500 Mc/s) and radiometric receivers for monitoring and possibly controlling the temperature reached by the living tissues. A generator at ultra high frequency delivers a power of about one Watt into a coaxial cable terminated by a probe emitting electromagnetic waves in the organ to be heated by dielectric losses in the medium. A multichannel receiver, switched at intervals, analyzes the radiation reemitted by the living tissues through the probe, then utilized as a receiving antenna. The temperature reached in a region surrounding the probe is deduced therefrom and can be utilized for controlling the power emitted through a servocontrol system.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1978Date of Patent: January 26, 1982Assignee: C.G.R. MeVInventors: Guy Convert, Felix Diamand, Jacques Dufour, Jean-Paul Le Bourgeois
