  • Patent number: 5916025
Abstract: A flywheel having to coaxial members, the first member designed to be rotational integral with a drive shaft such as the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine, the second member designed to be connected with a driven shaft such as a gear box. The coaxial members are mounted via a bearing and coupled to each other. The second member forms a reaction plate of a friction clutch having ventilation holes proximate the bearing. The ventilation holes open into the bottom of a groove provided in the second member around the inner edge of the reaction plate radially above the bearing for collecting lubricating agent such as oil escaping from the center of the flywheel.

  • Patent number: 5772519
Abstract: A torsion damper comprising two coaxial parts which are mounted for rotation of one with respect to the other, with, interposed between these coaxial parts, apart from a centring element, circumferentially acting springs which are lodged in a cavity closed by the centring element, and friction device arranged outside the cavity. The friction device comprise, firstly, a cassette carried by one of the two coaxial parts, and secondly, a drive ring carried by the other coaxial part. The cassette includes at least two friction discs arranged to be coupled in rotation variously to the two coaxial parts of the damper, together with an axially acting resilient ring for holding the friction discs axially together.

  • Patent number: 5771755
Abstract: A damped flywheel (10) of the type comprising a first rotating element (12) and a second rotating element (14), which are coaxial and which have the general form of parallel plates (20, 26), and which define between them an annular housing (30) which receives a resilient damping device (32), together with an annular space which receives a friction damping device (58), and of the type comprising two coaxial sealing rings (56A, 56B), in which the friction damping device (58) comprises a part (62) which is driven in rotation by the second rotating element (14) through a head (68) of a member (66) that fastens one (56A) of the sealing rings (56A, 56B) on an annular disc (42) of the second rotating element (14).

  • Patent number: 5762557
Abstract: A damped flywheel having two coaxial masses (1, 2) which are mounted for movement with respect to one another against the action of a resilient damping device (3, 130, 230) including at least one resilient member (31 to 33; 133; 231, 232) mounted for articulation on both sides of the coaxial masses. The resilient member acts generally in a radial direction between the coaxial masses in a rest position of the flywheel to occupy a stable rest position. A second coaxial mass is mounted for rotation on the first coaxial mass through bearing members (14, 114) which are arranged at either the outer or inner peripheries of the first mass.

  • Patent number: 5711191
Abstract: The damping flywheel includes at least one cartridge (10) pivotally mounted on first and second coaxial masses. At least one elastic member (8) is mounted in the cartridge having, for mounting the elastic member (8), a web (3) and two guide components (4, 5) disposed axially on each side of the web. The web and the guide components (4, 5) have housings (82, 81) for mounting the elastic member (8). Friction means are mounted within the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 5295566
Abstract: A clutch release bearing assembly comprises a clutch release bearing having an actuating element which defines an actuating nose, a coupling member carried by a connecting piece which is prefitted to the diaphragm or other declutching member of the clutch, and at least one resilient retaining ring for holding the coupling member permanently between a drive surface of the connecting piece and an actuating flank or thrust shoulder of a groove formed around the actuating nose. This groove is elongated away from the thrust shoulder, so that at least one axially acting resilient ring can be fitted into the groove in advance, with the thrust shoulder acting as an abutment for this ring.

  • Patent number: 5284233
Abstract: A motor vehicle includes a primary unit and a secondary unit, i.e. the engine and gearbox respectively. The clutch release bearing includes a sliding manoeuvring element carried by the secondary unit and carrying a ball bearing, the outer ring of which carries a housing which is so conformed as to define the actuating element of the clutch release bearing that engages with the clutch diaphragm, typically through a standard main coupling member carried by the diaphragm. The actuating element is formed with an engagement recess in which is fitted an intermediate coupling member coupling the actuating element to the main coupling member, while the manoeuvring element of the clutch release bearing is of generally tubular shape.

  • Patent number: 4601373
Abstract: In a clutch comprising at least one pressure plate with axially bored radial lugs at its periphery, a travel limiter is disposed in at least one of the axial bores. It comprises a rigid peg movable axially between two bearing surfaces in axial face-to-face relationship of the cover-reaction plate assembly. The peg is mounted with friction in a friction bush which is pressed against the peg by clamping members. The bush comprises axial retaining members for retaining it in position through the axial bore. The clamping members are adjusted so that the peg can slide in the bush when acted on by engagement means of the clutch, but not when acted on by disengagement means specific to the plate.
