    Abstract: The compound 1,2,5,6-dibenzo-9-oxa-[3.3.1]-bicyclonona-2,6-diene is prepared by the condensation of two moles of phenylacetaldehyde in the presence of a strong acid such as fluorosulfuric acid. The compound is a useful intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, for example, antispasmodic and antiinflammatory agents.
