    Abstract: A cooking appliance including a vat for containing food during cooking, having a lid for engaging the vat. The lid has a transparent portion forming a double window consisting exclusively of an upper window and a lower window congruently placed on top of each other and an air space sealed therebetween, such that the lower window is exposed to cooking vapors emanating from the vat and the upper window is exposed to the outside atmosphere. Improved visibility through the windows is obtained during cooking. The upper and lower windows comprise a single unitary closed shell surrounding the air space.
