  • Publication number: 20060079617
Abstract: The use of a polyalphaolefin oil or combinations of polyalphaolefin oils to modify the softening point characteristics of a tackifier and compositions containing a tackifier and polyalphaolefin oil are disclosed herein.
    Type: Application
    Filed: September 30, 2005
    Publication date: April 13, 2006
Inventors: Nicolas Kappes, Jacques Lechat, Olivier Lacoste, Martine Dictus
  • Publication number: 20050020773
Abstract: Improved adhesives are provided through the use of styrenic radial block copolymers, containing at lest 40 wt % diblock copolymers, the adhesives have improved adhesive properties and a reduced elastic behaviour under die-cutting conditions. Compared to conventional linear block copolymers of similar molecular weight, radial copolymers offer higher holding power and lower melt viscosity for the adhesive. They therefore contribute to an improved balance between processability and end-use properties.
    Type: Application
    Filed: September 18, 2002
    Publication date: January 27, 2005
Inventors: Jacques Lechat, Michael Myers, Marie-Noelle Caxenave, Christopher Derail, Nicolas Kappes, Jurgen Schroeyers
  • Patent number: 4650829
Abstract: Hydrogenated hydrocarbon resins from cyclopentadiene and/or substituted cyclopentadiene of softening point below 90.degree. C. and having a (Tg) as from 35 to 70 lower than the softening point with less than 12 wt. % of the resin having a molecular weight above 1000 are particularly useful as tackifiers in pressure sensitive adhesives especially in hydrogenated styrene/butadiene/styrene block copolymer adhesive formulations where their use can obviate the need for plasticizing oil.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 11, 1984
Date of Patent: March 17, 1987
Assignee: Exxon Research & Engineering Co.
Inventors: Bernard Bossaert, Andre Lepert, Jacques Lechat, Vincent L. Hughes, Raymond C. C. Yap
  • Patent number: 4636555
Abstract: Resins having an improved combination of softening point and tackifying properties together with good color and heat stability are obtained by Freidel-Crafts copolymerization of a C.sub.5 /C.sub.6 unsaturated feed and 5 to 30 wt. % of para methyl styrene.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 20, 1985
Date of Patent: January 13, 1987
Assignee: Exxon Research & Engineering Co.
Inventors: Quoc Luvinh, Jacques Lechat, Morris L. Evans, Andre Lepert
