Abstract: A video color display system in which a synthetic image consisting of fixed and variable symbols and a radar image representing raw video are shown simultaneously and each in a plurality of shades. The video image supplied by a radar is converted into x and y signals so as to be displayed by a line-by-line scan, these signals being in addition selected in separate allotments as a function of predetermined parameters and distributed accordingly in a store. The scan generator circuit is multimode and produces a line-by-line scan for the radar display and a random scan for the display of synthetic symbols. The radar image is displayed in different shades to suit the selection which is made.
