  • Publication number: 20080039132
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a dual-mode terminal for accessing to at least first radiocommunications network in a first operating mode and to at least one local communication network in a second operating mode. The dual-mode terminal includes means for detecting the presence of said terminal, at least according to location information related thereto, in a geographic service area associated with said second network, known as a positive presence, and means for connecting, in the case of said positive presence, to the second network in such a way that the terminal operates in priority in said second mode.

  • Publication number: 20070249393
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a radiocommunications device capable of operating on at least two emission frequency bands and at least two reception frequency bands, comprising first means for carrying out communications according to a first predetermined standard. The device also comprises second means for carrying out communications according to a second predetermined standard while using, at least in part, at least one of these frequency bands.

  • Patent number: 6141414
Abstract: A data access arrangement (DAA) for interfacing a modem with a telephone line which requires only one safety barrier device for providing electrical isolation of the modem from the telephone line for both a ring detection signal and a remote device hang-up detection signal transmitted from the DAA to the modem. The DAA utilizes the same combined circuitry to transmit both the ring detection signal and the hang-up detection signal to the modem. The single safety barrier device is selectively connected to either ring detection circuitry during an On-Hook mode or remote hang-up detection circuitry during an Off-Hook mode by a selectively operating a relay switching device. With this arrangement, an improved DAA is provided having a combined circuit configuration for communicating ring detection information to the modem during the On-Hook phase and communicating remote hang-up detection information to the modem during an Off Hook phase, thus minimizing the size, cost, and complexity of the DAA.

  • Patent number: 6128373
Abstract: A universal data access arrangement (DAA) for interfacing a modem with a telephone line which may variably control its parameter settings to meet the interface requirements for telephone networks in various countries. The parameter settings are programmed into the universal DAA by multiple parallel command signals received from a connected modem. Each of the command signals is concurrently transmitted to a plurality of parameter-controlled circuits in the DAA, where each parameter-controlled circuit may interpret the received command signal to correspond to a different parameter setting. This allows different circuits of varying functionality to be separately programmed with different parameter settings using the same command signals received by each of the circuits.

  • Patent number: 6081586
Abstract: A modem utilizing a DAA having line side circuitry including a telephone network interface and system side circuitry including a host system interface, the line side circuitry and the system side circuitry being separated by a high voltage isolation barrier. A CODEC is provided in the line side circuitry, such that encoded information generated by the CODEC, as well as information for decoding by the CODEC, are communicated across the high voltage isolation barrier. These communications are accomplished in a digital manner. In an alternate embodiment of the invention, the line side circuitry of the modem further includes programmable detection and measurement circuitry that is programmable to measure electrical characteristics (e.g., tip/ring voltage and loop current) of the telephone line interface connection and is capable of corresponding adjustments to enable compliance with applicable regulations.
