Patent number: 5953763Abstract: A urinal of transparent or translucent plastic material that can endure a sterilization temperature of 130.degree. C., with a detachable anti-backflow element having an interior end located at the volumetric center of the urinal. The urinal also includes a normal fill level indicator, such as a groove in the side of the urinal, and a conduit and cap located above the normal fill level of the urinal. The anti-backflow device, normal fill level, and conduit and cap combine to prevent spillage form the urinal at any angle of tilt so long as the contents of the urinal remain at or below the normal filling level. In addition, emptying of the contents is facilitated by virtue of the conduit and cap location above the normal fill level. The urinal also includes other features, such as an internal odor tablet holding device, unique coloring and phosphorescent features for selected elements of the urinal, a specially designed cradle for holding or hanging the urinal, and either a fixed or attachable handle.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1998Date of Patent: September 21, 1999Inventor: Jacques Maurice Gouget

Patent number: 5185268Abstract: A method of determining nitrogen in various nitrogenous materials, wherein the materials are combusted by being brought into contact with a solid metallic catalytic mass, in the presence of an oxygenated gas, so as to convert the nitrogen into NO. This is then determined, preferably by chemiluminescence or by optical interferometry. The method is improved by adding a halide of an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal to the materials prior to combustion. An apparatus comprising an oven (1,2,2') charged with catalytic mass (4), which can be a wire acting as a heating element, and provided with an oxygen inlet (6). The catalytic mass is a non-oxidizable ferrous alloy or a metal of the Pt group.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 1991Date of Patent: February 9, 1993Assignee: Societe Nationale Elf AquitaineInventors: Bonometti, Roland Olivier, Jacques Maurice
