Patent number: 7824081Abstract: The disclosure herein describes a helicoidal system for securing a recessed light fixture assembly into an opening in a ceiling, wall or the like; the assembly comprises a light reflector having an upper collar and a light reflector support for mounting the light reflector into the opening of the ceiling, wall or the like. The light reflector support has an upper member that engages the upper part of the light reflector and has a helicoidal bearing surface to receive lugs provided on the light reflector whereby rotation of the light reflector, once received in the light reflector support, enables engagement in one rotational direction, and disengagement in an opposite rotational direction, of the light reflector to and from the reflector support.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2009Date of Patent: November 2, 2010Assignee: Éclairage ContrasteInventors: Marc Pelletier, Jacques Mercier, Jayson Auger

Patent number: 4936361Abstract: A rotary cutter bar for a tree felling apparatus. The bar comprises a cylindrical rod having a plurality of raised cutting teeth on its surface. Each tooth is in the form of a short curved bar. The teeth are located on a plurality of equally spaced-apart, spiral paths extending about the cylindrical surface of the rod from one end to the other. The spiral paths extend at an angle of between 30.degree. and 60.degree. to the longitudinal axis of the rod.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 1989Date of Patent: June 26, 1990Inventors: Gilles Mercier, Rene Gelinas, Jacques Mercier, Paul Mercier

Patent number: 4858487Abstract: Device for constant velocity transmission of movement between two parallel shafts with axes of rotation (16) and (17) connected by an outside gearing. The pinion (14) and the pinion (15) of the outside gearing are helical with a helix having the same angle and the same direction, so that a pinion (14) and the pinion (15) rotate in the same direction.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 1988Date of Patent: August 22, 1989Assignee: Regie Nationale des Usines RenaultInventor: Jacques Mercier

Patent number: 4848425Abstract: A tree felling head has a frame with two laterally spaced-apart support means at the bottom of the frame. A cutting unit is pivotally mounted at one end on one of the support means while the other end of the cutting unit is supported on the other support means. The cutting unit carries a rotatable cutting bar. Means pivot the cutting unit, while its other end is guided on the other support means, and while its cutting bar is rotated, to move the cutting bar against a tree and to cut through it.The cutting unit also has an accumulating plate located immediately behind the cutting bar for accumulating cut trees thereon.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1988Date of Patent: July 18, 1989Inventors: Gilles Mercier, Rene Gelinas, Jacques Mercier, Paul Mercier

Patent number: 4831890Abstract: Differential device comprising a housing (1) which carries differential pinions (2) with axis parallel to the axis of the housing (1) and two movement outputs which are each accomplished by a differential side gear (5) and (6).One of the movement outputs is accomplished by means of standard pinions: differential pinion (3) and differential side gear (5), while the other movement output is achieved by means of special pinions rotating in the same direction: differential pinion (4) and differential side gear (6). The differential pinions (3) and (4) are mounted on the same shaft (7) and are solid with one another.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1988Date of Patent: May 23, 1989Assignee: Regie Nationale des Usines RenaultInventors: Daniel Valentin, Jacques Mercier

Patent number: 4441396Abstract: An apparatus utilizing an endless blade for splitting hides, textile products and the like. A fixed assembly carries upper and lower cylinders or rollers for feeding the workpiece to the blade. A mobile or movable assembly carries the blade mounted on two spaced pulleys and is adjustable with respect to the rollers in order to change the spacing between the blade edge and the feeding plane between the rollers. Also mounted on the movable assembly is a sharpening device in the form of two grinding wheels which are biased toward the blade edge. A blade positioning mechanism controlled by a photocell sensing the position of the blade edge maintains the blade edge in the desired position relative to the rollers despite erosion of the blade due to sharpening and wear.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1981Date of Patent: April 10, 1984Assignee: Societe MERCIER FreresInventors: Georges Mercier, Jacques Mercier, Pierre Buisson

Patent number: 4198828Abstract: A device for supplying coolant to a cryostat has a container containing liquified gas. An insulated first tube supplies coolant gas from the container to the cryostat. An end part of this tube is located inside the container and is bent into a U-shape so that the bend is immersed in the liquified gas, but the mouth of the tube at the free end thereof inside the container, opens above the level of the liquified gas so that the coolant gas can enter the first tube. After leaving the cryostat, the coolant is conveyed to a suction inlet of a pump which propels the coolant along a second tube which opens into the container below the liquid level. A heat exchanger to give a cooling effect is disposed adjacent this U-bend.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1978Date of Patent: April 22, 1980Assignee: Societe d'Etudes d'Automatisation, de Regulation et d'Appareils de Mesures S.A.Inventors: Jacques Mercier, Andre Ponthus

Patent number: 4140239Abstract: A re-usable experimentation crucible comprises a cylindrical side wall, a base, an opening, an internal support surface located adjacent and directed towards the opening, a removable stopper supported and centered on the support surface, and an annular groove located in the side wall between said support surface and the opening. A ring of plastic material may be inserted between the side wall and the stopper and driven by extrusion in the direction of the bottom of the crucible. This causes the ring to deform and fill the annular groove and ensure sealed closure of the crucible.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1978Date of Patent: February 20, 1979Assignee: Societe d'Etudes d'Automatisation de Regulation et d'Appareils des Mesures, Societe AnonymeInventors: Jacques Mercier, Andre Ponthus
